About Broeknrule Broeknrule is a new style of record label. Set up by Mike Deal and Jimmi Clarke, both of whom have worked in the music industry themselves, the label is out there to sign artists onto a different sort of contract, one that doesn't take them for granted but works with them to produce and release the music that they want to.

What's in a Name? Broeknrule is about breaking rules. Breaking out of the box, finding new, innovative ways of marketing artists and picking the creme of the crop to work with, develop and release. We also realise that it is band's fans that keep them going and so we are constantly developing ways of keeping the artist in touch with their fans and vice versa.

Being a different record label also means that we are not interested in signing bands that are from a certain area of the country, of a certain genre, faith or political stance, we are interested in signing GOOD music so if you think you have what it takes, send us a demo!

Over the coming weeks, this site will change considerably, new bands will appear and new pages will develop allowing both artists and fans to share in a community and build together. As well as this site developing you will see the band's own pages evolve into a new and exciting world in which you will want to return, time and time again.

NEW - 4th May 2006 - Part of breaking the rules means that we want to help all bands, not just those associated with the label. It is with this in mind that the website will be going through some changes in the next few months and some of the features we have been working on in regards to our own bands will be made available to you (for example, the reccomend a friend tools we have).

What this will mean to you is that you can have a page on our site where you can increase your fan base. Not only that, we will be able to sell your cd's for you (giving you back a fair percentage of the price) and the band/artist that gains the most fans and sells the most cd's will be offered a contract with the label.

The world's a stage and MOWGLEE are primed to play the lead role in a major global production. Local Birmingham label Kingship Music provided a platform by releasing the boys debut EP, 'GO,' in 2001 to great acclaim. Steady gigging in local Midland venues and festivals such as Greenbelt have further enhanced the band's growing reputation. Anything but predictable the band have shared stages with Cornershop, Shekinah, and Lily Savage a little embarrassing for sure but Cornershop have come on a lot since then!

Mowglee's newly recorded album " Revolutionized" independantly released at the end of 2004 is set to propel them into the stratosphere - a formidable collection of songs empowered by exceptional lyrics. Ethnic beats, raw guitars and gloriously rich melodies combine to create an indie / rock sound that may have resulted had the Charlatans been fed on vindaloos, basted with the harmonious tones of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and slow cooked in the urban melting pot that is Birmingham. But this rich mix of east meets west is perfectly balanced, satisfying and delighting those with even the most discerning of palettes.

The time is here the time is now, see the vision share the dream. You need Mowglee because it's a jungle out there!!

The Upraw

Living up to their name, The Upraw are raw, not fitting into the pre conceived genres, these 5 girls have created their own blend of experimental rock. Working outside traditional boundaries and creating something new is the bands aim and with lead singers, Ellie Chapmans, soulful vocals running over a combination of R&B influenced keys, rock flavoured guitar riffs and a hard edged rhythm section this band are well on the way to achieving their goals.

Even though these girls were catapulted to fame through Channel 4s rock school, this is not what they have relied on to get them into the public eye. Their music stands on its own merits and they are now not only performing live but writing their own songs which have already gained a mass following.

Uniquely, the Upraw are a band made up of 5 females, all of which play their own instruments and write their own songs. Hailing from different backgrounds the girls werent even friends before they were thrown together by rock legend Gene Simmons in the hit show, Rock School. Their different musical influences meant they were not all comfortable with the way Gene worked but once he left the 5 of them got together and started working on a sound that separated them from other artists.

Crone

Crone are a 3 piece catchy punk rock band from Norfolk, England. The current line up have been together for around 3 years. Crone have appeared on the Golf Records Tour and the Kerrang! Skate and Slam Tour and provided support for Idlewild, King Prawn, The Buzzcocks, Uncle Brian, Spunge, Kinesis, Voodoo Glow Skulls and countless others. Crone have also headlined and played many venues up and down the country including The Carling Academy, selling out Norwich's Waterfront and Norwichs UEA to 1550 people.

The current Cd is Crone's second release and 'Fair ter Middlin' is proving to be very popular with the first run of 2000 selling faster than they could had ever imagined, making way for further runs. Crone's album has received airplay across the world on many stations with it's most popular track, 'Spots and Eyeliner' recently having a music video made by the BBC.

This year has been Crone's most successful to date. Receiving massive amounts of airplay. exposure and bringing many exciting gigs and opportunities to the band. Crone recently signed to Broeknrule Records and will begin releasing material off the label later in the year. This has helped to boost the popularity of their website: www.cronerocks.com which receives an average of 3000 hits a week!
