A background distilled in a brew of Austro/Pakistani/African, British/European origins, Miriam Aziz started writing songs at the age of 12. Her musical apprenticeship began with the piano and evolved to encompass other genres (namely jazz) and other instruments, such as the guitar, the drums, percussion, the cello and the clarinette. She played in a number of orchestras, jazz groups and sang in a variety of choirs in Brussels where she grew up. At 15, she formed her first rock band, "Foreign Affairs" which gave a number of concerts. Her university studies forced her to put her musical career on the backburner for a number of years. Her subsequent travels enabled her to assimilate a variety of musical influences as part of her song writing.
