I tend to be fairly omnivorous. My bookshelves contain Roman history (including imperial fiscal policy), suicidal Russians, and American political theory. This, however, is but a taste of my true breadth.
My alternate universe double. He owes me twenty bucks and a slightly used Delta-III submarine.Failing that, Wilhelm Canaris, just to see how much was personal distaste, how much was patriotism, and how much was idealism.
My favorite song of all time is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' American Girl. I keep a lot of Bach and Handel on hand. My collection includes an amount of music taken from videogames that most people would be embarrassed by. Thankfully I am immune to shame.
Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon were fun; too many movies before 1950 have stilted acting.
Vampire Hunter D was my introduction to anime, and now that my tastes have matured (ha!), I find it difficult to sit through.
I love David Lynch's version of Dune. Drug use isn't widespread enough these days to make a really convincing version of Herbert's classic novel, but Lynch managed it well enough for me (even if he did strange things to the army concept).
Godzilla, King of the Monsters comes off as a very serious peace about the dangers of nukes even with the American overlay of Steve Martin as Raymond Burr.
Plan 9 from Outer Space is so bad it's good. Let's hear it for gun safety!
Original Star Trek.
Firefly was all too brief.
Dr. Who, even after all these years.
The new Battlestar Galactica is great, and not just because Grace Park is the cutest thing since baby seals were genetically spliced with kittens.
My mother doesn't let me watch The Twilight Zone when she's in the room, and that was a great hardship in high school.
Unwrapped, hosted by former obsessive-compulsive slime maven Marc Summers, tells me as much as I ever dreamed I would know about desserts and snacks. I loved the pie episode particularly.
It took me a year to finish The Brothers Karamazov, but I'm glad I did, because I enjoyed the debate between Ivan and the Devil.
The Hobbit. No world-shattering wars, no great evil, just a road trip through an Englishman's mind.
Yendi. Not your average fantasy novel.
Starship Troopers.
The Three Musketeers.
The Stars My Destination, which has forced me to put The Count of Monte Cristo on my list.
Galileo Galilei, who didn't run as I would have, and Voltaire, who did.
