About Me

Norway’s SARPEDON has already (in their own, megalomaniac minds) created a unique mixture of heaviness, flair, power, and melody. Fronted by the 6 ft 5, 4-octave monster Stan Sylvander, the band is just as comfortable on stage as in the studio – which so far has led to gigs supporting among others Communic, Battered, and Crest Of Darkness, as well as invites to several samplers, among others BW&BK’s legendary ”KnuckleTracks” sampler.
The music is for the most part penned by guitarist Torgeir P. Krokfjord. As well as possessing a pleasantly melodic, still at times frightenly pacey, soloing style, the guitarist writes music that leaves just as much room for drummer Carl Engstrøm’s (Carpticon, ex. Thornbound) highly technical extreme metal-influenced style, as for Eirik P. Krokfjord’s academy trained, multi-layered backing vocals and big, Emperor-influenced synths.
After a couple of rather distrasterous member changes – no further commenting needed – the band is now ready to show the world what music would sound like if Jeff Loomis, Jon Oliva, Freddie Mercury, and Ihsahn were all in the same band, ate six cans of tuna a day, and had declared war on traditional prog metal.
”Demo 2008”, the follow-up to 2006’s logically named - and critically acclaimed - ”Demo 2006”, was recorded and produced by Børge Finstad and Lars Jensen in Finstad’s TopRoom Studio. Featuring what Børge names ”the best guitar sound of 2008” the three-song effort showcases a band that’s hungry, yet mature in their approach (and disgustingly pompous in their promo sheet writing).
