About Me

Andy always loved dance music & clubbing so when he returned from a holiday in Ibiza in 1997, it seemed like a natural progression to become a DJ himself. He began by mixing CDs, but quickly switched to vinyl & by mastering them both, proved he could work in any club environment.
Andy loves playing to a crowd and his gigs are always fresh & energetic. Unlike some other DJs, Andy thrives on the crowd’s energy & input –that’s why you will always see him bouncing about enjoying himself (or dancing like your dad!) behind the turntables.
Andy got his first gig at Paradox, Babylon nightclub (Ayr) in front of 1200 people. He became a resident alongside Public Domain's Mark Sherry and Inside Out founder Simon Foy.
Andy then held a monthly residency with Pulse at The Big Joint in Scotstoun, Glasgow banging out the best in Funky House and Hard Dance, playing in different rooms each month.
After many successful sets Andy decided it was time to launch his own night so Uproar was established. Initially, Uproar began as 2 rooms (one Funky, the other Hard Dance) in the Vaults below Glasgow's Archaos nightclub. The night was packed and the atmosphere electric - the venue, on the other hand, was not acceptable. Moving to Mercury (the old Alaska and now the Buff Club) was the chosen destination for the new night.
While in Ibiza 2003 Andy entered the Radio 1 DJ Competition in Plastic Fantastic, San Antonio. He played the best set of the night, kept the crowd entertained, the beats flowing nicely & won the competition. The prize was a chance to play his own set in the awesome venue, Eden alongside Dave Pearce for his Dance Anthems Show. Eden holds 5000 people and this remains one of the highlights of Andy’s DJ career.
Andy moved onto playing Funky House and RnB in Social on Royal Exchange Square, Funky House in Living on Nelson Mandela Place, Vocal House at Agenda in Shawlands, Funky & Commercial House at Room on West Nile Street and Commercial Dance at Brewhouse on West Nile Street proving that he can work a crowd in many different settings.
Andy was offered a Residency at Penelope’s Nightclub (later changed to Club Devotion) on Jamaica Street playing the most upfront Funky House & Commercial Dance to a welcoming crowd. He remained a popular resident in the club for over two years.
Andy also continued promoting his own club nights with Uproar. He held a night at Suburbia in Paisley, playing the best in Vocal House and Uplifting Commercial Dance as well as promoting a host of local DJs & received substantial sponsorship from USC. Uproar took 700 people into Suburbia which smashed their previous crowds of around 500.
Uproar now regularly promotes Boat Parties in the summer season, sailing down the Clyde which are both exciting and most of all new for the Glasgow club scene.
Andy became one of the residents at Studio Nightclub in Glasgow on Friday nights playing the biggest Club Anthems and Commercial Dance and then moved on to run his own night in Studio, Uproar every Thursday. He is also putting together other nights throughout Scotland. Uproar is growing from strength to strength and will continue to grow for many years to come.
Silver was the next club Andy has been involved with, running nights every Friday with special guests and DJ mixes. Again playing Scouse and Commercial dance.
Andy has frequently done power mixes and guest mixes for various radio stations such as Beat 106, Clyde 1, Bolt FM and FPR Radio as well as an appearance on Juice FM Liverpool.
Andy worked for HMV for 5 Years as a successful Vinyl Buyer breaking all sales figures for vinyl and used all his contacts to keep DJs in Glasgow and Central Scotland updated on all the latest tracks breaking on the club scene. He was then offered the Manager’s job at 23rd Precinct records - he has been there for nearly two years and enjoys every minute of it. As well as running the shop, he is actively involved in 23rd Precinct Record Labels and is always bringing new dance acts to the forefront of the music scene within an A&R role.
Andy, together with Tony N, has released a few tracks on the Commercial Dance scene and they are always working on more remixes and releases.Keep checking back for more information on Andy and all his events, releases and remixes………
Andy's latest project is running every Saturday at Base Nightclub in Paisley bringing DJs like Ian redman (Ultrabeat) & John 'J2' Tomo (Access 3) to Paisley with Gary Mitchell playing Old Skool Anthems and Chart Dance. Andy plays up the stairs and destroys the dancefloor every week. Boat parties will start again in the summer so keep an eye out for the latest one, or visit www.djandyperry.com fo details.
