We are what we repeatedly do~Aristotle

About Me

"We need the skating community of Corpus Christ, Texas to respond. SKATE 78415 wants to build an indoor skate park to provide a safe place for kids to skate. We are aware that the city has already built a skate park on Cole Park and a couple of additions in certain parks such as hilltop and a mini-skating area in a plan for a future west side park. However, we feel it will not facilitate all the children who skate in the Corpus Christi Community. This project will take much work and commitment, but know there is STRENGTH in numbers. Lets bring something extreme to Corpus Christi, Skaters unite." This was my ambition in June 2006. I did not know what I was up against. I have learned much from talking to our skating community about all the legalities that are involved in getting a skate park built. It requires total commitment from a team of people who are willing to commit in researching and willingness to learn how the city goes about projects such as these. My full time school schedule doesn't allow me to do so but this page will remain open till I can. This is for the skating community of Corpus Christi and a dream of having a city that will provide more than one facility to skate; just like there are city facilities accomodating baseball, basketball, soccer, and swimming throughout the entire city.

My Interests

COOL VIDEO AND TUNE...CHECK IT OUT! Embracing change. First meeting was on July 12, 2006 was held for Skate 78415. Even though our attendance was low, much was learned from this meeting and there are so many different approaches that can be taken in making this project happen. We had feedback from members of the rollerderby league (www.hardrollerderby.com),future skaters, and dedicated skaters who gave much input. However, we need a larger number of skaters to respond. If you want an indoor skate park built in Corpus Christi, you the skaters are going to have to show the community of Corpus that this is what you want and the city as well. Take these questions into thought and respond to them. Your feedback is important. Here are the questions that were covered at the first meeting. The next meeting time will be announced. Subscribe to our blog to keep up with the group. Questions are: 1. Where can we build this? (Heb on Port/Ayers has been sold.) 2. Who's going to use it? Streetskaters! 3. Where can we find money? Fundraising so far or some rich guy whose willing to make an investment. 4. How much money will it cost? We need plans to build first and see how much it would cost to build a street skating park. 5. Where do we go from here? Research on establishing ourselves as a non-profit organization or do we want this city operated? Can we be the first to get a city to open an indoor skate park? Don't know till you try! 6. Recruitment? If you to share any ideas about getting an indoor skate park in Corpus. Your input is appreciated
