About Me

I like writing. I also like pictures.
I have a website with my friends Tim and Gerald (myspace aliases "Johnathan" and "G. Lee") that you can find here .
I have lots of friends and acquaintances. Most of them aren’t on myspace. Myspace’s loose use of the word “friend” bothers me. Most of my myspace “friends” aren’t my friends. I probably attended school with them sometime between 1993 and 2005. But that doesn’t mean we won’t become friends in the future.
Some of my childhood friends and classmates are millionaires. One of my childhood friends died from a gang shooting a few years ago. One is in jail for selling crack. I recently heard another is freebasing crack. One has been to jail, will soon be a father of twins and will probably become a millionaire. Life is funny like that.
My dad is from East Texas, “the cradle of negro civilization” © Jerrel Wade. My mom is from Haskell, OK. They married in 1975. They divorced in 1989. They promised me it wasn’t my fault. I believed them. I get along well with both of them, especially my mom, since I live with her.
My dad graduated from Emmett J. Scott. My sister and I graduated from Booker T. Washington. Life is funny like that.
I love music. Some people have more musical talent in their pubes than I have in my whole body. Even if they shave.
My thoughts on R. Kelly: A good songwriter. A legendary producer. An iffy vocalist. And the one person OJ can legitimately complain about not being in prison.
Tim asked me why so many people mourned the passing of J. Dilla, what made him so special. I told him J. Dilla produced Janet Jackson's "Got til It's Gone". He said, "Oh." Tim doesn't question people mourning J. Dilla anymore.
I haven’t bought a cd in almost a year. The next cd i buy will probably be "Game Theory." I suspect it will go gold, and it won't take 11 years.
Percy Miracles sings 7 times better than me. As a child sang in my church choir.
I like listening to dead prez on the way to church. This intensifies my praise and worship.
When I was little I sucked my tongue when I was sleepy. My little sister sucked her fingers. She no longer sucks her fingers. I still suck my tongue.
I have fluorosis. We don’t know the exact cause. It mottles my teeth and makes them brittle. I’m self-conscious of it, but I still like to smile and laugh.
Sometimes I’m lazy. I want a job. My current job is looking for a job and studying for another bar. I might be more educated than you. You probably have a better job and more money than me. Life is funny like that.
I fall in love easy. I fall out of love easier. I once proposed. I didn’t have a ring. She said “yes.” I broke off the engagement. We’re still friends.
I don’t really have heroes. I typed that to seem deep and religious. And because Henry Brown is cool. If I had heroes, they’d probably be my parents. There’s no one else on this earth whose approval I seek more. Except my next job interviewer.

Chalk It Up As A "L"ife "L"esson
