About Me

I work with adults who have a learning disability, a job which can be very challenging at times, but a job I love.My spare time is divided between my son, working on the computer (I enjoy design work, producing adverts for local fund raising events, and also for a local company) and playing the guitar, well try to anyway! I play the guitar in a music session at work, and also in a duo with my friend and colleague, Darren. We have played a few gigs now, each one a steep learning curve! But we are progressing, slowly on my part! The duo is called 'Night Garden', and we have a page here on 'myspace'. I am also a member of Samboomba, a great Samba band based near Ipswich, and have been trying to master the art of playing the Tambourim - anyone one who has heard me playing the guitar will tell you that my sense of timing leaves a lot to be desired, so I guess it's going to be a long hard road!..

My Interests

Music, playing the guitar, travel, cinema, reading, eating out, being with friends, walking my dog, motorbikes - my earliest happiest memory is of me riding on the back of my dad's bike, (an old BSA) when I was 4 years old.

Music:

I have a very wide range of music tastes - from jazz, blues, blugrass, (love slide guitar!) and country to rock. Favourite artists at the moment include: Norah Jones, Katie Melua, Martha Tilston, Michael Buble, Jamie Cullum. Also like the Scorpions, Queen, James Blunt, Jools Holland, Mark Flannagan, Chris Rea, The Corrs, Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams and at the moment listening to Corinne Bailey Rae's debut album.

Movies:

Love movies, favourites are: Matrix, Moulin Rouge, Constantine.

Television:

Desperate Housewives, Lost, Invasion, Hustle, My Name Is Earl, and Green Wing - the latter appeals to my warped sense of humour, then again I did used to be a nurse..

Books:

Favourite authors include: PJ Tracy, Dan Brown, Lee Childs, Tess Gerritsen, Kathy Reichs, JK Rowling etc, currently reading Robert Crais.

Heroes:

My son, he very nearly didn't make it into this world, but he's a little fighter and now is a fit and healthy (apart from his diet..) 14 year old, with plenty of teenage attitude !

More Disasters From The Kitchen...

Now you would think that brewing coffee would be a simple procedure. Not if I have anything to do with it.  I don't purposefully try and make things more difficult - my life could certainly do wi...

Setting Fire To Seaweed...

Setting Fire To Seaweed.   As I fast approach the big four O, I have reconciled myself to the fact that I'll never hear the words "Paula and good cook" in the same sentence. To put it simply, coo...

It somehow always happens to me...

18/03/06   There I was, 20 minutes before I had to leave for the gig, dripping wet, elbow up to the u-bend, thinking that I really must invest in a pair of rubber gloves, as I tried to franticall...
