Joe Laurino (is the Cult of Personality)

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am a chameleon, both socially and stylistically. I am all over the place. I'm a Game Designer first, Digital Artist second. I take my craft very seriously, but I never lose sight of the key element ; fun. I love cities. I embrace constant change, but appreciate stability and structure. I don't mind a wrench in the gears every once in awhile - in fact, I welcome it. People who believe otherwise are boring. I say I'm going to do things, and then I do them. I love the arts. I appreciate people of the opposite sex, but will probably never put them on a pedestal.

You'll generally catch me with a five o'clock shadow on my face and a crazy idea in my brain.

I have met with and shaken Shigeru Miyamoto 's hand. I've talked game design with Peter Molyneux , David Jaffe , Koji Igarashi , Alexey Pajitnov , and Goichi Suda , among others. I've met Koji Kondo and Eiji Aonuma , along with the man who does the voice of Mario.

I highly recommend you keep an eye on me.

"Life is random. The only constant, is change. So take it one step at a time, and boogie."

"Everybody who saw the Jungle Book knows that Riki Tiki Tavi is a mongoose who kills snakes. But when I was a young man I was led to believe there were organisations to kill my snakes for me, i.e. the Church, i.e. the Government, i.e. School. But as I got a little older, I learned I had to kill my snakes myself."

Personality Snapshot: social, outgoing, worry free, optimistic, upbeat, tough, likes large parties, makes friends easily, rarely irritated, open, enjoys leadership, trusting, dominant, thrill seeker, strong, does not like to be alone, assertive, mind over heart, confident, controlling, feels desirable, likes the spotlight, loves food, social chameleon, hard working, concerned about others

NOTE: Do not send me a fucking friend request for your shitty little band. I don't care. Seriously. If you send me a friend request for your 'prolific, world-changing, up and coming band', I'll mark it as spam. All you're doing is wasting my time.

Books:

I used to be an avid reader, and still like reading, although I don't do it nearly as much as I should nowadays. I read everything from graphic novels and comic books to paperback novels and design books (technical or art). My favorites include Life on Earth: A Natural History by David Attenborough, The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, The Phantom Tollbooth by Alfred A. Knopf, The Giver by Lois Lowry, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, Through the Ice by Piers Anthony, Brian Jacques' Redwall Series (The Long Patrol, The Bellmaker, and Martin the Warrior specifically). As far as mangas go, I'm not a reader of any series other than Lupin III, which I own the entire series of (all fifteen volumes). Great art and amazing humor. It's a great read for any manga or comic fans out there.

Heroes:

In the Game Industry (I've met ones in bold): Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima, Koji Kondo, Hayao Miyazaki, Peter Molyneux, Tetsuya Nomura, Nobuo Uematsu, Koichi Sugiyama, and Hironobu Sakaguchi.
Other people I look up to outside of the industry:: David Attenborough, Hugh Laurie, John Lennon, my parents, Richard Dawkins, and Vito Corleone.
