Baltimore, Maryland, September 2006: Greg Thuman (Pronounced Tu-man), singer/songwriter and guitarist, is finishing off his new massive-sounding EP, showcasing his immense musical talent and diversity. This is bone chilling blues rock, the kind that knocks the rafters through the roof.
In his late teens Thuman began recording relentlessly and was a huge hit on Baltimore radio. A DJ exclaimed Jeff Becks got nothing on this kid. From these recordings, Thuman moved to London at the invitation from a manager. After doing so Thuman was also being approached by another scout in the States, who was with CBS, with an even more appealing offer. He quickly formed a backing band and toured untiringly all over the Baltimore/VA/D.C. area, including a successful showcase at Omega Studios in DC that was attended by A&Rs and record executives. This had Thuman working in New York in a couple of weeks, again playing his inimitable brand of blues rock.
2003 saw the release of the colossal, epic length "Primal Static" CD, then in 2005 "Primal Static" was followed by "The Rites of Shangri-La". Both albums had Thuman playing all instruments and vocals. He is now joined by his backing band including HouFei Yang on keyboards, who has her Doctorate in music from Peabody Conservatory . Ms. Yang stated in an interview with Damien Einstein, the music director of WRNR, "I was completely overwhelmed by Greg Thuman's immense natural talent from the first moment I heard him. With Primal Static (as the band is called) backing him this year, Thuman played at such venues as Fletchers, IOTA club, Otto bar, Full Moon Saloon, Side Bar Tavern. Thumans music has also been recently played on the Johns Hopkins University radio station, the George Washington University radio station, WRNR, WYRY, Insomnia Radio Baltimore, Insomnia Radio San Francisco, Kill Radio in Los Angeles, CA and Donkey Punch Radio in Chicago, IL.
Thuman is ready to embark on the next chapter of his illustrious career. In a live setting, Greg's performances are a rare opportunity to see one of the music scenes true geniuses. As one listener puts it, "It just doesn't get any better than this!"
