Erie

I am a city that consists of 102,612 people and about 280,446 more live in my metro area. I'm found right on the coast of Lake Erie...I am noted as the fourth largest city in Pennsylvania and the 127th safest American city. I am Pennsylvania's only lake port. I'm also known for my beautiful sunsets worldwide. The Peninsula has over 2 million visitors per summer...which is more than yellowstone park recieves in an entire year! I am also in very close proximity to some other major cities... Buffalo, NY – 96 miles... Cleveland, OH – 99miles... Pittsburgh, PA – 127 miles... Toronto, Ont.,Canada – 210 miles.
I'm a city which use to thrive on manufacturing, but as time ticks by...manufacturing just isn't cutting it anymore. A combination of tourism, better/more educational facilities, research facilities, new forms of entertainment, and renewed commerical office space are a very strong force at the moment and we need to incorporate these new additions into our community NOW! We have to get with it...we have to compete! The time to take action is now! We have to learn how to start working together and making changes. The Bayfront Convention Center now has a home on the Sassafrass Street Pier...if you journey down to the Bicentennial Tower and look to your left the convention center is really taking shape...you may also notice the construction beginning on the accompanying hotel! Other development projects are underway too...such as another entertainment complex on the Bayfront and have you ever heard of Splash Lagoon? Thats already built...but they are adding their third and last addition on this summer! Erie recently recieved half of the money to start construction of the Koehler Complex into a market, health care facility, offices, apartments, and retail! The last stretch of the Bayfront Connector Highway has been finished finally! Also, out in West County (Girard), Mercyhurst West is the newest addition to our evergrowing list of established and expanding educational institutions! This fall is when the first classes begin! If everyone puts in their own little part...it is going to have a gigantic impact!
I want to turn into a city...full of options for my dwellers...A place where there are many forms of attractions and easy access to my neighboring brothers and sisters...Have faith in me, because if you don't...how am I to become a better place?
