Cross Culture Settlement

'Hip Hop in actuality'

About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorCross Culture Settlement (Convict, Flipadeck and Beleaf) are a Hip Hop trio straight out of Australia's capital city, Canberra. With nearly all of the beats handled by Convict for HOR Productions, CCS have a heavy jazz, soul sample influenced style for all three members to flow over with smooth rhyme patterns and clever lyrics inspired by Tribe Called Quest, Nas, De La Soul, Common and Little Brother. The 3 met at a local Hip Hop gig, Territory Sessions, in 2003-2004 and frequently ended up battling each other in the finals. At the start of 2005, Convict and Flipadeck (biological brothers) were about to start working on a project titled Smith Bros. But in the beginning of the process they collaborated with Beleaf on a track titled 'Represent' and the 3 clicked instantly after realising the genuine, positive chemistry and mutual respect. They decided to form a group, Cross Culture Settlement."The name Cross Culture Settlement means that we are aware of the stereotypical mis-conceptions within certain cultures of the world today and realise that we're all humans with the same feelings and capabilities. It means that we're blocking ourselves out from all the bullshit attitudes to settle down and create something that feels dope to us as artistic human beings. It doesn't matter where we're from, what colour, religion or age we are......We're going to make dope Hip Hop, regardless" says CCS.They are now working on their debut album 'Mind Elevation' which will be released through HOR Productions and pushed to it's full potential. "We're not letting this album slip through anyone's fingers. We really feel like this is what alot of people want/need to hear. CCS are just 3 young Hip Hop heads from one of the most peaceful countries in the world and it's as simple as that. Alot of Aussie artists seem to be pushing for that strictly hardcore Hip Hop and there's really no problem with that if it's dope music, but we believe that bringing a bit of balance in direction could really be more entertaining for the listeners. Our music's main message is that we need to keep home peaceful and help other nations to be more like us". The album consists of 19 tracks and features guest appearances from Rhyme Ministers, Phatchance, Molly Daniels, Poeticians and Lostone. It will be released in 2007. "This album is for people who have a similar relationship with Hip Hop as CCS do. We definately still love H.E.R".
