I served 4 years active duty in the US Air Force and an additional 18 years in the US Air Force Reserve. I spent 2 tours in South Korea following the capture of the Pueblo by the North Koreans. During Desert Storm I was activated and deployed to Saudi Arabia. After returning and being released from active duty in 1991, I retired from the Reserves. I completed my college degree with the help of the GI bill and after 16 years of enlisted service, I received an AF Reserve commission reaching the rank of Captain.
I spent 27 years ensuring the flight worthiness of Space Shuttle hardware. I was there for the first launch of Columbia in 1982 and witnessed the catastrophes of Challenger and Columbia. I retired from NASA in 2004.
Since retiring from NASA, I've been working with the Shuttle processing contractor dealing with suppliers regarding hardware conformance and contract compliance.
