EK5OBITION CLOTHING (EK5)

In the February/ March 2004 issue of *Sole Collector, Ek5obition appeared in an article by Scott Tufts titled “Feet You Wear”. The article highlights four up and coming clothing companies who were making noise in the industry by integrating footwear into their clothing. With the emergence of BRKNHOME and 2F Graphics Limited from Vancouver, BC, aNYthing from New York, NY, and our very own Ek5obition from Los Angeles, CA, Sole Collector had to get the story on these companies tapping into one of the hottest trends in 2004.
Sole Collector recognized the strong following Ek5obition had in L.A. and chose us to represent the area for the article. Our company started gaining exposure by putting our gear in the hands of deejays and bboys. According to the article, “Hip Hop has always had a love affair with kicks culture”….”With the club DJs and hip hop heads supporting their gear, the Ek5obition name started to gain recognition.” This was only the tip of the iceberg. It was when Ek5obition released their 2nd shirt in their Sneaks N Beats line to coincide with the release of the Nike “Heineken” skate dunk in 2003 that got the sneaker-heads going crazy. As reported in the article “The release was limited to 100 pieces and orders poured in from across the world.” “Within 24 hours they almost completely sold out, and Ek5obition had enjoyed their first true taste of incredible success.”
During the time span from when the article was published, until now, Ek5obition tasted many successes and also many failures, ultimately disappearing from the scene and going back to the drawing board to make sure we finally get it right. As we reflect our inclusion into the article in Sole Collector as one of the gleaming accomplishments of the past, and our ups and downs thereafter as a learning experience, we now look into the future. In 2006, Ek5obition founder Dennis Padua assembled a team of 5 members with distinct skills. With this formidable team, we are set to re-establish Ek5obition and make a major impact in the industry. This time we won’t stay quiet, Ek5obition will be heard from now, until the future. In summer 2006 the “Prophecy” begins….
