Okay, maybe it is time for an update on here. It looks like I'm going back to work as a roughneck for a little while so that I can quit traveling quite as much and get a few things done closer to home.
As far as who I am:
I'm picky and opinionated and I love to argue about anything and everything. I'm an extremely picky eater (mostly just meat) and am obsessive about maintaining a certain amount of clutter. I rarely focus on just one thing and I'm likely to be in another locale tomorrow. I don't dress according to any genre or style (unless you include cheap and comfortable). I have many pet peeves and can be stubborn and obstinate. I don't date (and haven't this millenium) because there isn't anyone who meets all my criteria who would likely ever put up with me. If I had it my way, I would have already been settled down and 'married with children,' however at this point it seems likely that it will never happen.
I'm gregarious, but alsovery shy. Conundrums abound. I'm very good at knowing what to do in many situations, but horrible at understanding otherpeople a lot of the time. Anyone that knows me knows that I'm complicated. I'm usually referred to as weird, nerdy, etc... Ihave a lot of friends that I really care about, but I'm often alone. And, I have no idea how to describe myself... obviously,alas.
I'm a centrist, who firmly believes in the mantra "Everything in Moderation." I am, however, also something of an extremiston some things.... but that's probably just my OCD, lol.
I am not a democrat and yet I am not a republican. Neither do I align myself with any of the other political parties. Quitefrankly, I think that it is an absolute travesty that our system has been taken over by partisanship. It is my FIRM beliefthat political party alignment should NEVER be listed on a ballot (Thomas Jefferson agreed). I also believe that we shouldmake absolutely certain that no more of our checks and balances are destroyed. The presidential election should go back tothe way it originally was; the highest vote winner is the president, the second highest is the vice president.
I'm Conservative about a lot of things. Fiscally, most especially.
I'm also Liberal about a lot of things. Basically, I couldn't care less what people do as long as what they're doing fits onesimple rule: UNLIMITED RIGHTS UNTIL THOSE RIGHTS INFRINGE UPON THE RIGHTS OF ANOTHER.
Currently I'm feeling pretty old; I just turned thirty. Actually, I've always felt pretty old, but 30 IS old, lol. I alwayspromised myself that I would retire when I was 30 and now I've had to revise that back a few years.... 35 hopefully!?
I love technology, but I also love unadulterated nature.
I'm a tree hugger, but I'm a realist and a CAPITALIST. In other words, I believe in taking care of the planet, but I alsobelieve that we need to be logical.
I'm pretty skeptical about a lot of the CO2 global warming arguments. There are a lot of natural cycles to take into consideration and the so called evidence that I've seen so far just isn't particularly convincing. The evidence is perfectly clear that the CO2 levels of today are several parts per million higher than in recent history and the reason for this is almost certainly the burning of Fossil Fuels. My concern is that there is absolutely no realistic evidence that this relatively small increase in greenhouse gases is significant enough to cause the changes that the doomsayers are so excited about. ON THE OTHER HAND... there is a strong and present need to decrease OTHER pollution from the burning of various fossil fuels. And, waste products from other sources are also very important problems that we need to address.
