^^Fire and @3DC39 aspects of the theory are as follows: each society has some controlling force or forces which decide its direction, but the relationships in society are arbitrary-humanity can relate to money, machines, neighbors, anything really; %6582@1
individual character and personality are preserved in stories, movies, ROM-personalities, etc; although individual expression is a universal ability, individual freedom is constrained by the society.(see attached figure)^^

Movies:
Too many to list! I mean, come on man; I'm still working on my music list! Cut me some slack! (Seriously, I've got something in the neighbourhood of over 500 movies, and I like all of them.)
Television:
I don't really watch TV. 'Don't even have cable or anything. When I do, it's usually educational stuff; Discovery Channel, History Channel, etc. There are one or two TV shows that I like, but I just download them to watch them. My weakness, though, is Twilight Zone marathons on the SciFi channel. I'm like a dear in headlights when those come on. (The old Rod Serling ones, not the new stuff.)
I suppose I'll have to break down and get cable at some point, though. I mean, if you're gonna produce television, you should probably watch some of it at some point, yeah?
Books:
Pretty much anything I can get my hands on. Some of my favourite authors (in no particular order):
Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Brian K. Vaughn, Friedrich Nietzsche, Kim Stanley Robinson, Roger Zelazny, Richard Dawkins, William S. Burroughs, Arthur C. Clarke, Hunter S. Thompson, Art Spiegelman, Koushun Takami, Chuck Palahniuk, Robert Heinlein, Frank Miller, Warren Ellis, Alex Robinson, and a few more that I'm sure I'm forgetting.
Heroes:
"Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
— Steve Jobs
"Knowledge without mileage means nothing to me."
— Henry Rollins
"Art has no responsibility, except to be created."
— Marilyn Manson
"What's the alternative? I won't be able to make this movie? That's why you get into this business — to make really cool, new, challenging cinema, not to be in a club."
— Robert Rodriguez
“I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures , it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace.â€
— Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama
"It would be intolerant if I advocated the banning of religion, but of course I never have. I merely give robust expression to views about the cosmos and morality with which you happen to disagree. You interpret that as 'intolerance' because of the weirdly privileged status of religion, which expects to get a free ride and not have to defend itself. If I wrote a book called The Socialist Delusion or The Monetarist Delusion, you would never use a word like intolerance. But The God Delusion sounds automatically intolerant. Why? What's the difference?"
— Richard Dawkins
"Regret is the worst of human emotions. There is no going back with regret. There is no future with regret. Regret is not something I live with. If there is something I wished I hadn't done, I don't do it anymore or I forgive myself and try better. My life is my statement and I try to be true to myself and thusly to other people. Whatever my failings are, they are human and I try to perfect it each day."
— William Shatner
