About Me

The "force" within me is strong.
Independent Thinker: The Donovan Story
I think most people would say that I am consistent. I try to take the high road. Why? At an early age, I was lucky enough to see that there are more to things than people say. People edit their speech based on their audience. I think we all do it. For instance, a politician will say what she needs to in order to keep the peace, get the votes or bring people together. Likewise, a member of the clergy is likely to reinforce the tenets of his religious institutions in order to keep order…even if he feels such rules are unjust.

Food for Thought
While growing up, everyone told me that eating meat (beef, poultry, fish) was essential for normal human development. They seem to omit or ignore the fact that over 1.3 billion human beings could be fed each year from the grain and soybeans that go to livestock in the United States. This means that the entire population of the United States could be fed (without losing any nutritional value) and there would still be enough food left over to feed one billion people. In a world where millions of people die each year of starvation, that type of food excess and inefficiency could be considered unethical. (Source: http://vegetariantips.net)

Officially in my late 30s, I am stronger, healthier and have more muscle mass than ever. Amazing, if you consider I have been vegetarian for nearly 17 years. It, however, is not that astonishing because people in the US generally eat for taste rather than health. I eat for life.

Why the Big Speech?
My being a vegetarian is a challenge to conventions regarding how human beings ought to eat. My doctor’s positive health reports validate vegetarianism as a healthy way of life. Likewise, I am on myspace to develop healthy friendships as well as to meet others who challenge convention and seek truth in many forms (e.g., spiritual, emotional, intellectual, personal and so on). So, my list of friends will be varied. Their images/motion pictures, opinions and senses of humor are their own. With that said, my showcasing friends—who appear on my page—is a vote of confidence for their independent thoughts. As in real life, I may disagree with my friends’ stances on numerous issues. Still, I have love and respect for all.
