AUSTRALIA'S 1 ROCK EXTRAVAGANZA 1995 - 2008

About Me

******THE SHINE ANNOUNCE SPLIT*****
After 13 years Melbourne rock extravaganza The Shine have decided to disband.
'We wish to thank everyone who has supported us over the years.'
The album Irresistible Force will remain ‘shelved’. The Shine’s final gig was Friday Jan 25th in front of a sold out Hi-Fi Bar supporting Airbourne for their final Melbourne show.
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- THE SHINE formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1995.They have been kicking butt and taking names ever since.Known to many as "Australia's number one rock extravaganza", The Shine were rock Gods the day they were born.No one recognized them without their sandals on...until now!
The Shine's latest opus 'Love Is Like A Hurricane' has scored rave reviews. UK's Classic Rock Magazine voted it 8/10 and BLUNT Magazine called it 'Turbo-charged KISS'.
To date, their wild and unpredictable live shows have seen them share the stage with many great bands including The Darkness, Jet, L.A Guns, Tesla, Airbourne, The Datsuns, The Casanovas, Hell City Glamours, Mike Tramp,Fozzy(featuring WWE Superstar Chris Y2J Jericho),You Am I and many more.
NEWS/REVIEWS What they've said about Love Is Like A Hurricane
"Few bands polarize opinions like The Shine. Some, including the band themselves, claim they put on the best rock n roll show in town.Others say it's the worst thing they've ever seen.Judge for yourself."
Patrick Donovan,The Age
"just sit back and soak up the ROCK".
- Inpress Magazine, Clem Bastow
"Stop whining "They dont make rock n roll like that any more".
- Herald Sun
"The Shine not only have 'it', they have the perfect ingredients for the perfect rock band, probably more so than any other band you could think of that is rockin' Australia's live scene right now. They got the songs, their look is awesome, and they live and breathe every iota of rock n roll".
- LONG GONE LOSER, Damo
"Melbournes leading band in this genre".
- BEAT Magazine, Claire Stuchbery
"You can smell the rotting flesh of the glam rock corpse having new life breathed into it again. Let the resurrection begin".
- Drum Media, Dan Stapleton
Other quotes, news & reviews:-
THE SHINE/THE DARKNESS "Pure Dynamite The Darkness at the Corner showed that rock is cool again. And it was great to see The Shine deliver a blistering set as the support act. This band was doing the rock thing when it was uncool, so they deserve all the attention theyre now getting".
- Inpress Magazine, Jeff Jenkins
"Rocking in all the right places".
- BEAT Magazine, Neala Johnson
"Enter Melbourne's greatest concoction of glam metal, humour and wrestling bohemoth; The Shine. They were always destined to bring the house down as evident after their instrumental intro building to a heightened climax for the 'grand' entrance of Julian 'Big Daddy' James".
- Drum Magazine, Ben Turner
"Melbournes own masters of pomp and circumstance".
- Herald Sun, Paul Stewart
"Last night I saw THE SHINE play at the Crown & Anchor here in Adelaide. They're awesome. Definitely one of the high quality acts we have here in Australia. You'd be an idiot to not support these guys. Everything was perfect, the look, the sound, the show".
- Long Gone Loser Magazine
"Melbournes own masters of pomp and circumstance".
- Herald Sun, Paul Stewart
"Melbourne foursome The Shine are ready and waiting to pounce. The Shine are dirty rockers in the way early Motley Crue and Guns 'n' Roses, only there is something distinctly Australian about them".
- Blunt Magazine, Matt Reekie
"With larger than life stage personas and heavier than though classic rock riffs, no label is seemingly big enough to contain rock monsters The Shine".
- Blunt Magazine, Amy Simmons
"Catchy vocals and dirty-as-fuck rock riffs".
- BEAT Magazine, Gav Ross
