Glove the Funkman

Nomadic solo bass set coming to a state near you!

About Me

Getting his start during high school, as the lead man on bass and vocals of the funk rock trio, Lorenzo Sweat Band, during three years in high school, Glove played in The Blanket Statement for a few semesters in his first two years of college. While working an internship in Hillsdale, MI during the summer of '05, Glove started writing "bass songs" and performing at a fantastic local coffee shop, The Annex, where he received great feedback and inspiration to take his set to the next level. He performed at various open mics and at two major Annex events during the summer and returned to school in the fall, full of excitement to unleash his sound on Iowa State University and Ames, IA. Only performing at two open mics the whole semseter, Glove didn't have the success he wanted last fall.Glove came to Charleston, WV for another semester-long internship in January and looked to spread his sound on the entire state of WV. He got the best opportunity yet when a local coffee shop, Taylor Books, booked him for a 2-hour set on March 3rd, 2006. Facing the task of the longest solo set of his life (by 1.5 hours), Glove needed some new material. He purchased a Boss loop pedal which expanded his set remarkably. In three weeks time, he lengthened his set by 1.5 hours, and on March 3rd, he played 25 songs before a crowd of 30+ with a new friend, Matt Chittenden, accompanying most songs on djembe.Since the show, Glove has been writing songs based off of inspiring trips to Costa Rica, Washington D.C. and Richmond and is still expanding his set. He hopes to record an album soon and return to Ames, this time, much more prepared to show the midwest all that a bass guitar can do.
