Sleeping
This is an interesting one. My job, very often, brings me in close contact with famous people. Musicians, actors, heads of government, pro athletes, coaches, racecar drivers, fortune 500 CEO’s, you name it. I’ve been backstage with presidents, vice presidents, chairmen of joint chiefs and four star generals. I once ran John Kerry via remote control. (ok, so it was his teleprompter script)Being based in Indianapolis, I’ve worked several times with Tony George, Tom Carnegie, various NASCAR Drivers, IndyCar Drivers and IRL Drivers. I once extricated an in-ear monitor from Derek Daley’s auditory canal with a Leatherman Multi-Tool. But have I actually met these people? No. I mean, I met the guy who discovered the Titanic, he introduced himself, I introduced myself, we shook hands and I clipped a microphone to his tie. That’s how it goes. There is a professional barrier you don’t cross. When you find yourself standing next to Michael Jordan in the press box during the NCAA Final Four, you don’t jump up and down and ask for an autograph. It’s just not done.So I guess my answer is… I’d like to meet anyone famous when I’m off the clock. In nearly 15 years of traveling the country the closest I’ve come is, sitting in a hotel lobby bar in Fort Worth, at a table next to Frank, the fat guy on Trading Spaces. I didn’t say anything. Now, if it had been Paige Davis, things might have been different.
Here are some songs that could be considered the soundtrack of my life.PLEASE, do not confuse this list as a list of my “favorite†songs. Rather, the list is a sampling of the music that has shaped my psyche. Some are tied to emotions, others take me instantly to memories. Like, Listening to AM top Forty or the 8-track player as a child, riding in the 1970 Monte Carlo, Mom’s driving, summer sun shining through the back seat window. Crap like that. Anyway, Welcome to my brain.
