About Me

A native of Philadelphia, PA. Baritone Kevin Moreno studied Voice Performance and graduated from Oberlin College Conservatory in 2001. He continued at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey, and at Centro Studi Italiani Dante Alighieri in Urbania, ItalyMr. Moreno has spent two seasons with the Cleveland Opera Company and was a fundraising soloist for Lyric Opera Cleveland. He performed the role of Marito in Menotti's Amelia al Ballo at the opera house in SantAngelo in Vado, Italy, and Ford in Verdi's Falstaff with Janiec Opera at Brevard Music Center in North Carolina. In the summer of 2005 Mr. Moreno performed the role of Figaro in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Schlossoper Haldenstein in Chur, Switzerland. He also sang a concert version of the same role at the Tonhalle in Zurich, Switzerland with the Kammerphilharmonia.Recently, Kevin Moreno toured Europe and Japan with the New York Harlem Theater and Orchestra in its production of Porgy and Bess. During his time away from the tour, he attended the Mozarteum Sommerakademie in Salzburg, Austria, upon winning its scholarship competition that is sponsored by the Austrian-American Society of Wilmington, Delaware.Besides opera, Mr. Moreno has performed leading roles in operetta and musical theater productions. He was also the vocal jazz bass voice in a selected jazz ensemble for the 1995 Grammy Music Awards at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Since 2001, Kevin Moreno has been a regular singing actor with Ohio Dance Theatre in its yearly touring production of their original dance musical-stage play Journey.Kevin Moreno was a 2005 winner of the Schlossoper Haldenstein Singing Competition in Chur, Switzerland and a 2000 winner of the Mario Lanza Opera Competition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also was a winner of the District and Regional Competitions of the Leontyne Price Voice Auditions in 2001 and 2002. Mr. Moreno was selected by the Art & Cultural Events Department of the City of Beverly Hills, to present two concert recitals in their Sundays @ 2 Concert Series in February of 2006. He returned to California in the summer of 2006 to present a performance of Schumann and Mahler lieder. This performance at the Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival in Palos Verdes earned him their senior prize.
