I'm a 29 year old DJ and rhythmic ear noise appreciator from Bristol in South West England. Have been collecting and listening to dance music in all it's myriad forms since around 1994, when I got into the hardcore and jungle scene of the time. In around 1996 I managed to purchase an old pair of belt drive turntables and started my DJ career playing drum and bass and hardcore. Over the years I gradually moved away from the hardcore scene (and the belt drive decks) but still enjoy playing a variety of dance music - mainly a chunky mixture of breaks and house, with the ocassional detour into the lands of hip hop, reggae and disco. Have finally got to the stage with my DJing where I am confident enough to hope to secure a slot playing out somewhere (it's only taken ten years!) and am currently in the (slow) process of sending out demos and hassling promoters around Bristol. Have been promoting a night with a few friends that kicked off on 23 December at Antix on Park St in Bristol. So far we have had three successfull parties and are currently in the process of looking for somewhere a bit larger that will attract a more dance music oriented crowd. Uni pressure has meant that things may not be moving as fast as I'd like but watch this space, Chunky will be back soon with another fat party.
