I like making Jell-O Molds. And bundt cakes. I am a creative person; I love crafts, including crocheting and scrapbooking and taking pictures of my loved-ones. You can buy my crafts at my Etsy Shop, Beangarden . I need to create: to write, to make art. I love to read--especially modern classics. I adore betta splendens (current household betta count: 8). I like to hang out with friends, go out to dinner, watch movies, play board games, and the like! I am a hot tamale on the dance floor; give me music and I can't stop dancing! I love ethnic foods as well as good ol' American classics... I'm a sushi fanatic! I love trying new things. I like baking. I also collect lots of things including (but not limited to): hippopotami, Pez dispensers, styros (aka "koozies"), and things with the letter 'A' on them. I like helping my roommate's classroom at DonorsChoose! I like doing something to actively fight against breast cancer.
Lois Lane seeks Super Man.Poor grammarians need not apply. After all, if you work at the Daily Planet, you have to know how to write.I am also looking for new friends who are kindred spirits. Think we'd strike a chord? Find me.
Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, The Doors, R.E.M., Laura Nyro, Spiraling , Frank Sinatra, classic jazz, oldies, Ultra Lounge, anything danceable. Karaoke favorites: "One Fine Day" by the Chiffons, "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips (there are three Pips, incidentally), "I Wanna Be Loved By You" by Marilyn Monroe, "Love Shack" by the B-52s, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, "Walkin' After Midnight" by Patsy Cline, and "I Got You Babe" by Sonny & Cher. Download "You and Your Friend" by Snake River Conspiracy (from the album "Sonic Jihad"). Do it. Do it now. You won't regret it.
My favorites include (but are not limited to): "Some Like it Hot" (1959), "Tootsie" (1982), "The Full Monty" (1997), "The Chipmunk Adventure" (1987), "Beetlejuice" (1988), "Sister Act" (1992), "Batman Returns" (1992), "Bus Stop" (1956), "Niagara" (1953), "Dick Tracy" (1990), "North by Northwest" (1959), "What's Up, Doc?" (1972). I like comedies and classics. Old movies, I find, are superior to new movies. I also like some of the stranger movies that mess with your mind, like "Memento" and also "Magnolia." I do not like horror/scary/gory movies; "The Exorcist" gave me nightmares, and so did "Signs." Those aliens were freaky, man! I like a movie to uplift me or make me laugh. I don't like movies that are meant to bring a person down. Entertain me! Musicals are awesome. So are Elvis movies. (I aspire to see them all.) Also, you may have noticed that I really like movies which include men dressing as women.
My favorites are pretty oldschool. "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," "Gilligan's Island," and "I Love Lucy." I like "Jeopardy!" as well, because Alex Trebek is my celebrity-crush. I really like "Desperate Housewives." And Susanbean has gotten me hopelessly addicted to "Twin Peaks," which we watch on DVD while eating squash-casserole. Oh yeah, and when I watch "The Office," it's a little bit hard to contain myself.
"A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess, "Animal Farm" and "1984" by George Orwell, the Irene Kelly mysteries by Jan Burke, the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling. "Cat's Cradle" is my favorite by Kurt Vonnegut (so far), but I've loved all of the books I've read by him. I love biographies of Marilyn Monroe. My favorite poets are William Carlos Williams and e. e. cummings. My favorite playwrights are William Inge, Tennesee Williams, and Christopher Durang. In my opinion, the best translation of Dante's "Inferno" is by Robert Pinsky. The three books that have actually made me cry are: E. B. White's "Charlotte's Web," Lena Pepitone's "Marilyn Monroe: Confidential," Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird."
My Mom and Dad. Susan, and others educating this nation's children. Doris, and others working to keep people healthy. People who help others. People who make a difference. People who do Random Acts of Kindness. People who smile at strangers.
