SarÃt (Sarah in Hebrew) has been playing guitar since she was 14. She was adopted from Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico when as a baby and grew up in Chicago with music always in her ear. Music has been a major driving force in her life. Her mom played a guitar, piano and sang. Her dad did not play any instruments, but had the greatest taste in music. He introduced SarÃt to the music that now drives her passion. She grew up knowing more about the Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, and Cat Stevens than the New Kids on the Block or Madonna.
She started teaching herself piano at age 10, but immediately after discovering her mom’s 1976 ct classic acoustic Gibson in the depths of the coat closet she found her true love. Just the smell alone of the wood and the sound of the old strings rang in her heart.
In high school she began to teach herself how to play the guitar by watching other musicians perform and chatted with them to learn more. She also took every chance she could get to play in front of an audience. She steadily grew a decent local fan base, which over time has grown to a larger national and international fan base.
Later on when attending Earlham College, at 20, SarÃt established a website dedicated to artists/activists/Indy musicians/movements. She has always seen the world through others eyes. She is a supporter for all movements and people know what it is like to walk in others’ shoes or realize we only have one earth. The Website is: http://www.officialnowandforever.com. This also where she promotes her music besides Myspace. SarÃt also recorded a rough album in her dorm room on Mac’s Garage Band program. The album was titled "Honest Passion (Acoustic Fun)" and was released on iTunes in 2006. It was her first release and a rough of what is to come. She started with the name Soul because friends called her that since she played music, but too many artists used the name. Later on, for her career after college she changed it to SarÃt. It was a name given to her at birth, named after her dad’s mother, and meant much more to her. As soon as she received immediate positive response for Honest Passion (Acoustic Fun) she decided that she would continue to pursue a music career.
Now at 24 SarÃt plans to perform around the Chicago area and other cities in the states just to get people to listen. She is not signed to any label and likes it that way since being independent feels more rewarding to her. SarÃt wishes to sign to an Indie label so she can get her ground and continue to grow musically. In the far future she hopes to establish her own label, but for now she is still learning about the music business as a whole.“Life is a song, so belt it out!†– SarÃt
