I am here for Friends

About Me

my #1 fantasy is to get into a bar fight with some burly dude. for days, i'd walk around, brandishing my black eye, telling people they should see the other guy.
i am unintentionally a constant contradiction to myself; for that i am infuriating.
likes: wit, discord, irony, motion blur, self-deprecating intellectual masturbation, androgyny, underdog causes, dive bars, compelling theories - especially in the realm of science.

dislikes: stagnation, gravity, undirected or impersonal violence, static electricity, anxiety, mouthy/bitchy pro-lifers, the color pink, people in general.
and now i shall tip my hat to the nefarious Lord Portland and the Savages.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

i thoroughly enjoy quirks, quips, and fast-paced banter. also, jews.

Music:

bob dylan. elvis costello. and i guess some irish&gypsy punk, electronic chamber music, modern brechtian/vaudeville acts, an extensive range of classic rock, feel-good indie hipster trash, sultry female vocalists, orchestras of clicks and beeps, a few mourners and their acoustic guitars, instrumentals, industrial rage, a touch of heavy metal and a sprinkling of whimsical fantasia. also tom waits. but how can i categorize tom waits?

Movies:

i can only talk about them pretentiously. forgive me.

Television:

Arrested Development! also 30 Rock & Deadwood & Firefly. Funny how three of those are off of the air.

Books:

last ten books i've read: 1. Shock Value: A Tasteful Book About Bad Taste by John Waters 2. Make Love: the Bruce Campbell Way by Bruce Campbell 3. The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera 4. Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk; 5. The World According to Garp by John Irving; 6. Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach; 7. Kabuki Vol. 1: Circle of Blood by writer & artist David Mack 8. Batman: Dark Victory by Jeph Loeb, art by Tim Sale 9. Batman: The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb, art by Tim Sale 10. Sex, Drugs, & Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
current book(s) i'm reading: The Beauty Myth: How Images of Beauty are Used Against Women by Naomi Wolf; Film Essays and Criticism by Rudolf Arnheim
and some comic books by individual issue.

Heroes:

Bruce Campbell, naturally. Coincidentally, he (as Brisco County, Jr.) was my first crush. i was 8; it ruined me.
