carolina - author/artist

I believe in facts only insofar as they support my myths.

About Me

I am an author-artist born in Venezuela and temporarily living in London.I produce illustrations and graphic design under the name Oblique Light, using photography and digital imaging. I've got a degree from Camberwell College of Arts, and a background in film studies, poetry and contemporary/butoh dance. My first book 'Mediterranea' was published in 1999. Other texts of mine have appeared in anthologies and on the web.My visual work has been exhibited in the Young Photographers Biennale at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Caracas, Venezuela; and by invitation at the 'Ingen Reklam, Tack!' exhibit in Stockholm. As a dancer, I've performed with the groups 'Macrodanza' and 'Danzantillana' in my country, and with ButohUK in London, where I've studied with Atsushi Takenouchi, Katsura Kan, Tadashi Endo, Marie-Gabrielle Rotie and Fran Barbe.I am currently working on my new book 'Kamikaze', to be released in 2007. This is a 100-page poetry book, fully illustrated with my own photographic digital artwork, and hand-finished in a limited artist's edition, signed and numbered. Inspiration for these texts and images include alchemy and myths, the spiritual eroticism of the christian mystics, and the idea of depression as a source of creativity. This will be a bilingual edition (Spanish/English).Get Your Own! | View Slideshow Get Your Own! | View Slideshow
