Greg Morris is a trend-setter. A go-getter. A warrior. Often, people allow for hardships to break them down emotionally. For others, a downfall is simply a means to begin anew and to prosper greatly. Planet Rock Enterprises founder and owner, Greg Morris, is representative of the latter group of people.A constant achiever, a young Greg Morris was awarded with an athletic scholarship to an American post-secondary institution but was forced to turn it down following a freak accident. His left leg was broken entirely in half during a soccer game. While most would consider this a life-altering setback, Morris regarded this experience as a new beginning.Born to Jamaican parents in the late 70’s and growing in a house always filled with various rhythmic sounds, Morris has always been a lifelong lover of music. With Bob Marley, Wayne Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince and Run DMC among his biggest influences, he decided to turn his attention towards the music industry following his accident.Making the transition from track & field and soccer star to entrepreneur was not an easy one, but ever the hard worker and strong minded leader, Morris developed his skills as a DJ and producer. Wanting to focus more on artist management and event promotions, he founded Planet Rock Enterprises in 2000. Having been a business major in college, Morris was well suited to create the all-in-one record label, talent representation firm and event promotions company. In only a few short years, Planet Rock has already begun to thrive as one of Canada’s leading entertainment groups.Morris’ first signing was Canadian hip-hop icon, Dan-e-o. Already enjoying the success of his now-classic “Dear Hip Hop†single which was released on Beat Factory’s Rap Essentials Volume One album in 1996, Dan-e-o went on to release two full-length albums The Book of Daniel (2000) and See No Evil, Hear No Evil (2004) and a number of street CDs, mixtapes and music videos under the guidance of the Planet Rock Enterprises team. Most recently, Toronto’s Startin’ Line Up crew has been signed to Planet Rock Enterprises. With such artists as Trinity Chris, Tre Nice and Suga Prince already making waves in Canada’s urban music scene, it is evident that the success of Planet Rock is increasing dramatically. And it doesn’t stop there. As an event promoter, Greg Morris is now one of Toronto’s most prominent party throwers. The semi-regular “Reggae Café†is currently one of the city’s most popular club events.“Planet Rock’s vision,†says Morris, “is to provide the world with a new blend of entertainment diversity. Planet Rock Enterprises will foresee the urban market demands and present the best product in the forefront of today's growing entertainment marketâ€.
