Music, audio engineering and live sound production, computer networking and digital communications... blah, blah, blah. Enough about work. I LOVE home cooking! Chicken and dumplings, meatloaf and mashed taters, tuna casserole... you know, stuff that sticks to your ribs. Of course discovering a new restaurant every now and then is cool. I rarely drink, but I like a nice glass of Chardonnay with dinner. When I'm on the road, I look for the little Mom and Pop's, greasy spoons, or even a truck stop before I would go to a fast food restaurant. I'm a sucker for REAL mexican food! And what man worth his salt wouldn't be humbled by a peanut butter and jelly sandwich w/ some chips on the side? Now that I think about it, MySpace should add a category for FOOD. :p
Cheeto... the guy that came up with "cheese flavored" puffed snacks. I mean, come on... was that intentional or was it by accident? His brother, Frito, is pretty cool too. My liver... 20 years ago. One gazillion dollars in small unmarked bills... (inserts pinky in mouth Dr. Evil style). Someone with an unlimited supply of Jagermeister. A hooker hitchhiking through my neighborhood with a bag of cheeseburgers. Dolly Parton's titties. Your Mom.
Of course. I have three categories for music. Suck, doesn't suck, and Larry Carlton. I actually had the pleasure of mixing him a few years ago... what a joy. Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons run a VERY close second. What am I listening to this moment? Rush, Dream Theater and Linkin Park all have new albums out. Eric Gales is a monster! Joe Banamassa is kinda my new guitar hero. I just did a show with one of my all time favorite guitar players, Leslie West and Mountain. He peeled the paint off the walls! Dan Huff is probably the best producer on the planet and a damn fine guitar player too. Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs" is the reason I first picked up a guitar. I grew up listening to prog rock, so I can't leave out bands like Kansas, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Nektar, Elf, Emerson Lake and Palmer, King Crimson, Budgie, Jethro Tull, Les Dudek, early Pink Floyd, Yngwie Malmsteen, Gentle Giant, Starcastle, Mahogany Rush, and of course Yes. Chick rock? Amy Lee/Evanesence is OK, but I LOVE Flyleaf! And I adore Sarah Brightman. The Screaming Orphans are one of the best vocal groups to hit the US in a decade (think of a female version of The Beatles brought into the 21st century). Favorite new group of 2007: Driveblind, from Aberdeen, Scotland. And one of my favorite albums is Arc Angels, with Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramhall II, and Stevie Ray's old rythmn section, Double Trouble (Chris Layton and Doyle Shannon). If I had to pick one song that changed my life forever, it would have to be The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again". I even created my own ring tone that is the last 28 seconds of it... Yyyyeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh !!!!
I wish I had the time, but I prefer an "indie" or something adapted from a really good book.
I don't have the time (or patience) for it. 100 channels and nothing's on...
Now we're talking. Anything by John Irving (The Ciderhouse Rules, The Hotel New Hampshire, A Prayer for Owen Meany). I've been wanting to borrow a friend of mine's copy of "The Book of Life", but he's still reading it. I have a HUGE library. WAY too much to list here. On the flip side, I like reading technical references, spec sheets, and white papers (must be that Gemini thing again).
Grinz (you would know him if you saw him). For a guy that has been paralyzed from the waist down and in a chair for over twenty years, there isn't ANYTHING he can't do. It took his family to finally convince him to get one of those stickers for his car so he could park closer. His response was "Why, do I need to"? Life is challenging enough without waking up every day with a brick wall to climb over... he taught me how to tear down walls. Love you, meng!
