Sabotage Organized Barbarian (fanpage)!

About Me

I know most punks and thrashers can't read but be aware that:

This is only a fan page for S.O.B.! I have no affiliation with the band. I'm just a mere headbanger of their noise (I'm Davida Loca by the way). Don't message me asking if I know the band or asking for interviews or whatever because I won't answer! Any other messages or comments are appreciated and I'll answer whatever I can.

Biography written by myself:
S.O.B. (sometimes also known as SxOxBx, which is an acronym for Sabotage Organized Barbarian, sometimes also known as Sounds/Symphonies of Brutality) formed in 1983 in Osaka, Japan. S.O.B. are highly regarded as one of the leading pioneers of grindcore music and pushing the style onward. Originally S.O.B. started as a hardcore punk band whom later played grindcore style music. Their music would soon evolve with the influence of metal music and they would evolve into a thrashing unit with many experimental tendencies.
Grindcore music is defined as hardcore punk music with thrash and sometimes death metal tendencies (better known as extreme hardcore punk in some cases). What S.O.B. did along with the fathers of grindcore, Napalm Death, was further innovate the genre and influence other bands that would mimic their style or just have an impact on their own bands music. Both bands were known as the leading pioneers of the mass grindcore movement during the late 80's. Unlike Napalm Death, S.O.B. has (and still) remain underrated and this is typically because they've never expanded their music out of Japan.
S.O.B. were so much of an influence on many bands today, some obviously influenced by S.O.B.'s sound like Brutal Truth, Carcass and other grindcore units. One of the bands S.O.B. influenced isn't the most obvious band to be influenced by them but were tremendously swayed by their sound. According to the book "Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore" by Albert Mudrian, S.O.B. has hugely influenced Napalm Death and the making of their classic album "From Enslavement To Obliteration." Lee Dorian (ex-Napalm Death vocalist, current Cathedral frontman) claims that many riffs for the making of "From..." were borrowed from S.O.B.'s music.
S.O.B.'s original vocalist Tottsuan died of a grotesque suicide in 1995 when he jumped onto a oncoming train on the railroad, the reasons unknown. Due to this reason, S.O.B. went on a depressive hiatus until 1998 when they drafted their musical friend Kevin Sharp (best known as the vocalist of Brutal Truth) as temporary stand in before Naoto (from avant-garde punkers Rise From The Dead) made the role permanent.
As of today, S.O.B. still exist but play various local shows within Japan. They've been said to have joined ironically the mainstream crowd in Japan, playing "trendy" hardcore at big clothing conventions and so on very much in the vein of mainstream hardcore punk acts like Amen. This may be the case but the band made a comeback in 2003 with an album "Still Grind Attitude" with rerecorded classics and new vocalist Itsushi. The rerecorded classics were harsher, heavier and much grindcore than their last album "Dub Grind." While they're not necessarily grindcore today, their music still stands the test of time and their albums are treasure to many punkers/metalheads today, selling on websites like eBay for a good $50.00! S.O.B. will always be remembered as one of the original pioneers of true grindcore music.

S.O.B. music generally was influenced by early 80's hardcore punk, 90's death metal, worldly corruption, rebelling the mainstream, social problems, and thrashing at shows of course.
Sounds Like: Mid-late 80's:
S.O.B. played an aggressive, sloppy and intense hardcore punk style music with grindcore tendencies in their "Leave Me Alone" EP and "Don't Be Swindle" album. Their split 7" with Napalm Death would soon show what S.O.B. would become in due time. Up till their birth, S.O.B. has always had many thrash tendencies in a hardcore sense.

Early 90's:
Their best known material would be evident with their grindcore music. Their grindcore was "true" grindcore and not grindcore as it's known today (grindcore is suppose to be an extreme version of hardcore punk usually with thrash or metal influences.) Their hardcore punk roots has always been shinning through their grindcore stuff and this is very obvious on their breakthrough album "What's The Truth?" Up to "Gate of Doom", there were more traces of thrash metal and even hints of death metal evident within the vocal style.

Mid 90's-today:
On "Vicious World", S.O.B. decided to take an experimental approach to their music. Their music lost some grindcore and death metal but the music started becoming more groove oriented with chunks of thrash/hardcore riffs. There was a huge use of keyboards and sound effects as well as sampling in the music. Some tracks would be slow and groovey while some were "traditional" S.O.B. fast tunes. Tottsuan committed suicide in 1995, leaving the band to get a new vocalist after sometime and hence lead a new musical path. Their 1999 release "Dub Grind" saw the band take a different musical path, playing hardcore with electronic effects and dubbing added. Most of this was due to Naoto (replacement vocalist from the avant-garde grind band Rise Of The Dead) influencing the band's change of sound. The music sounds like modern "trendy" hardcore. Though, on 2003's "Still Grind Attitude", the band made a comeback to their hardcore/grindcore roots with rerecording old songs with new vocalist Itsushi and remains to still play in this style in Japan.

Their sound has always been refered to as "Japcore" throughout their career and they've always been associated with being one of the pioneering bands of grindcore music.

Or hear the band for yourself here!
