The "giant sucking sound" was United States Presidential candidate Ross Perot's colorful phrase for what he believed would be the negative effects of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which he opposed. The phrase, coined during the 1992 U.S. presidential campaign, referred to the sound of U.S. jobs heading south for Mexico should the proposed free-trade agreement go into effect.(and he was right on the money with this one. but he did not see India, Australia, china. and all the other slave labor county's taking all the jobs. out of the U.S.)Michigan needs big tax cuts. to keep work in Michigan. Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow need to stop playing games with the lives of everyone in Michigan. The U.S. manufacturing industry has lost more than 2.8 million jobs since 2001, including nearly 200,000 here in Michigan. stop pointing the finger at the president. its not his job to keep Michigan going.
