Abatu is the Sumerian word for the release of Negative and Destructive energy. That definition of the name is the exact definition of this band, a destructive, raw, hateful, aggressive, technical, chaotic, mad, yet positive, esoteric force of spirit and nature. Its the nature of abraxes, and Abatu represents that, the positive and the negative, but as well as the chaos in everything. The band was started in 2004 by Ian Welsh.
The bands epic, brutal and explosive sound is unmatched by anyone. Its technical experimental style is forged in with this to create the being, Abatu. Mixing progressive elements with brutal speed, polyrythyms, poly-metrics, rapid meter and time signature changes, and blistering technicality with a Middle eastern, Eastern, Jazz, and Classical twist this band is unlike anything ever heard. They catagorize there music with the term "Hyperdimensional Death metal", saying that theres too many dimensions to the music to call it anything elsel. Now with the addition of the new members Mark Edwards on guitars and vocals, John Allan on bass and vocals, and Doug Carrigan on drums, this force grows stronger.
The band's main lyrical concepts are based off of modern Satanism (Anton LaVey), Sumer-Mesopotamian mythology, occult philosophies and teachings(Hermetic, Alchemical, Middle Eastern, Black), man him self (psyche, thought patterns ect...), alternate realities and dimensions, science, the current state of the world, nature, accenting into deification, chaos, the grand magus HP Lovecraft, and lastly, the most base of all emotions, hatred.
Abatu has shared the stage with acts like Contorted, Matriarch, Anal Blast, Toxic Holocaust, Sathanas, Aghora, After Death, Gardy Loo and many others. After the release of "Ritual Carnage" the sound and name has started to take off more and more, gaining respect from bigger bands and labels alike. With a new release looming in the horizone this band is set off too destroy 2007 and onward.
