Accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Nandi is a modern-day renaissance man, pulling together poetry, soul, jazz, trip-hop and underground New York vibes. His mother, an artist herself, encouraged him to express himself through poetry, art and music and even took violin lessons with him when he was just three years old. From the time he was a small boy they traveled the world exploring the music and art of different cultures. Growing up in Trinidad, CA, his early years were strongly influenced by punk and surf music. The Village People, the Bee Gees, and Saturday Night Fever raised his interest in the New York scene. He particularly remembers the song "Roxanne" by The Police pushing him to devote his life to the passion and entering full-force into the music industry. After a good dose of feel-good in Cali, he moved to New York City and attended the School of Music and Art. Immediately his music started incorporating indigenous New York vibes and sounds: Brooklyn beats, wild-style era graffiti, and music from his home turf, Queens. CBGBs is his performance home, having performed there countless times, but places like Roseland, China Club, The Knitting Factory and Tunnel echoed with his sound as well.Writer and performer, his work has included collaborations with Maxi Priest, Mocean Worker, Lordz of Brooklyn, Ra, Bumpy Knuckles (aka Freddie Fox), Danny Boy from House of Pain, and Armand Van Helden and Ganja Cru for BMG's War remix project
Leaving the streets to lend his musical talents to television, radio and film he amassed numerous credits such as co-writing the title track to the movie Carrie 2, co-writing the music for X-Boxs game Ralli Sport Challenge for Microsoft, vocal and percussion credit on Pokemon compilation as well as having his music featured in countless ads for Bacardi, Coca-cola, Anheuser Busch just to name a few.
Never far from his roots he returned to doing what he loves most, playing in front of live energetic audiences. Most recently on the Vans Warped Tour in 2004,05,and 06 as well as Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka, Japan.
After years of lending his talent and skills to other bands, brands and artists Nandi brings it back full circle and shares his own vision directly with the next generation of music lovers.
