About Me

Someone once said, "Everyone needs a feisty red-head in their life." Jennifer Jade Kerr fits the bill. She performs with a mix of intensity and humour, and her music has been described as "wise", "passionate", and "breathtaking".
Jennifer Jade Kerr grew up in a little farming town in south-eastern Saskatchewan. Her father bought her her first guitar when she was 17 on a trip to the city when he was intending to buy tractor parts. By that time, she had been writing songs for 5 years, and they finally began to come to life.
JJK began performing her own material at open mic nights and songwriter circles during her university years, and after earning her BA in Religious Studies, she spent a year on the road with Christian music organization CREW Ministries as a member of the group "Saltwater", releasing an album called "In the Key of La". Owing a great deal to the Saskatchewan music community and its supportive atmosphere, Jennifer has appeared on numerous Saskatchewan radio stations covering multiple genres, as well as the stages of the Casino Regina Showlounge, the Craven Country Jamboree, the Conexus Arts Centre, and the Pump Roadhouse. A frequent competitor in the 620 CKRM Big Country Talent Show, JJK was named runner-up in 2005 and took third place in 2008. In April 2007, JJK performed in the Gospel Showcase at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards to rave reviews. In March 2008, JJK's song "I Don't Want You to Know" won the regional prize in the Radiostar National Songwriting Competition, taking her to Toronto to showcase at Canadian Music Week. Her debut solo album, "Somehow it always does..." was released in September 2008 on the indie label Golden Flame Records. It is available at Jennifer's shows, and also by mail order from her website.
As of September 2008, JJK will say "see you later" to Saskatchewan and head west, taking up residence in Kelowna, BC. With a brand new album in hand, Jennifer is excited to check out a brand new music scene and have brand new musical adventures.
Although well able to cover songs in various genres, JJK's passion is performing her original material. Her goal is to be HOT - Honest, Open, and Transparent, about who she is and what she holds dear. JJK's inspiration to write comes from many places - her faith in Jesus and the spiritual journey as she seeks to follow Him, her family and friends, stupid boys, nice boys, the prairies, shoes.... life in general.
And life is good.

And after a cup of coffee, she sings like a frog. It's not pretty... somebody get the girl a glass of water!
