About Me

Fearlessly Wading Through The Tumult Of A Rock Show...but you won't find me crowd surfing. I'll be by the Board...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ I'm Cheri - a music lover of course. Named after the beautiful Stevie Wonder tune by my music-lovin' parents... I attend shows and mix performances these days (live shows, concerts, plays, formal ballets or anything else with a live mix) Work around LA/Dallas/Seattle and surrounding regions with the occasional tour. I started my career in music business working in publicity at Atlantic Records while still in college. Working at the label gave me access to artist/event managment groups, and early on I got involved with the Marley clan. I assisted the Ziggy Marley merchandising team for two years. As my musical focus shifted, I worked in a live music production capacity and headed to Robert Lang Studios in Seattle...In 2004 Bob hired me as the Studio Coordinator for Robert Lang Studios. I began mixing sound for Puget Sound Video doing live events around the same time. Both companys work closely, so I was led down my path of mixing sound. (SEE 'Studio Tour blog) Here I narrate and guide you on a quick video tour of the studio in Seattle. No grammys yet, but after achieving the required credits to join, in Jan 2005 I was accepted as a member of the Recording Academy - Engineer and Producers Wing (Live). Shortly after, began working with Event Resource Management contracting out shows. Load in/out, backline, merchandise and sound. I've mixed sound for events from the Bumbershoot Rock Festival to Seattle's Symphony and many inbetween. My first big audio job was working sound with the Bett Midler 'Kiss my Brass' tour in 2004. (hey, it's a start) I like to travel for work and jump at the chance to do more than a one-off show. I enjoy music and mixing sound in general ~ I'm happy that I can make a living doing what I love with the internships behind me. Nothing compares to a good tour during the summer. I've been in between places school/working the last 10 years, it's hard to say where home is. I spend equal time in LA and Dallas these days because there's been work for me- they're great cities too... I was born in the south (Dallas), educated mostly in the west (CA and WA). For the most part, I'll live in Seattle or Dallas half of the year and split the rest out of town or in Hermosa Beach. I'm a silly, animal luvin, nature gal, and prefer being near trees on the inhale...if at all possible an herb garden with gardenias all about. Music is in my Blood. I'd travel to the moon for the right gig! In LA, I like going to Dublin's ~ In Dallas, the Gypsy Tea Room is fun for a show ~ In Seattle...well there are many great venues in SEAtown. My favorite place was the OK Hotel, but it fell down in 2001's earthquake...I'd say Showbox or Tractor will stand the test of time. I'm always open to any great Music Festival or Creative gathering with Sound. Rock is forever in my heart ~ SoundAroundSound
