My Interests

My interests are mostly: stuff that makes me think, laugh, happy, squint, dance, giggle, snort, pee, smile, full, crosseyed, itch, yawn, tired, high, comfy, cry, freak out, inspired, sing, go bonkers, twiddle, and whatnot. Preferably all at the same time.Oh, and my bitches.

I'd like to meet:

a dark wave/synth band that is looking for a sassy redheaded chick singer, Kat Von D, and Jeff Goldblum!

Music:

It would be easier to just give it to you by genre: Mostly, I'm a child of the 80s, so...new wave, dark wave, new romantic, synth, pop, and all that stuff are right up my alley. Also, 50s and 60s garage, pop, and mod, some rockabilly, old/new R&B, old school rap, soft rock, hard rock, love ballads, classic rock, experimental, shoegaze, singer/songwriter, progressive, blues, a little bit of jazz, French 60s pop, dirty house (the good stuff), funk, disco, glam, deep dish electro, non-crappy electro, some industrial, some goth, Britpop, definitely old punk, some gangsta rap (the really clever stuff), 90s "grunge" and alternative, crappy love songs/"window rollers", some hair rock/guitar ballads, smack rock and psychedelic/hippie fresh rock, indie, Motown, old country, soul, hip-hop, trip-hop, krautrock, etc. Oh! And basically everything that came out of the UK before and since the British Invasion. I like a lot of different stuff really, except for modern country, that pseudo-punk shite that is clogging the airwaves, hardcore heavy metal that sounds like Satan worship, and really hardcore rap that sounds like someone's about to get capped. Other than that, I'm a pretty down girl that can listen to mostly anything.

Movies:

I frickin' LOVE movies, man. I will secretly watch (and thoroughly enjoy) some messed up guilty pleasure shit like Teen Wolf, The Pirate Movie, and The Incredible Shrinking Woman. Then I'll turn around and blah blah blah you with my pseudo-hip reasons for admiring Kubrick's entire catalogue. Either way, I'm a screen whore. And you love me for it. By the way, if you sit me down with anything starring Ewan McGregor or Kate Winslet (and you also provide me with copious amounts of ice cream), I'm yours for life. Or at least for the length of the movie.

Television:

Don't put me in front of that thing. I will only glue my eyes to it and ignore you the whole time.

Books:

Well, I graduated in English Lit, so I'm a total bookworm. I am not especially picky about what I read. The only thing I probably wouldn't go out of my way to read is a Harlequin Romance. But I'm not saying that I would never read one. Sometimes, those bitches intrigue me. Secretly. Well, not so secretly anymore. However, I would never read a really crappy sci-fi fantasy novel written by some college kid. Does this give you any insight into my reading habits? I didn't think so.I don't always dig the non-fiction, but I'm not opposed to reading or at least skimming certain non-fiction books.Fave writers include but are not limited to: Oscar Wilde, Thomas Hardy, Hans Christian Andersen, Stephen King, Charles Bukowski, Irvine Welsh, Sylvia Plath, Edgar Allen Poe, Hubert Selby Jr., William Burroughs, J.D. Salinger, Lord Byron, and the old faithful, Shakespeare. I love the beat writers and poets. Man, they had it right- *snap snap*- what I wouldn't give to have come of age in San Francisco circa 1959! I am a big fan of post-modernism as well. Doris Lessing's "Briefing for a Descent Into Hell" changed my life. Or at least a week of it. And I adore fairy tales. The more morbid they are, the more fun I have. Grimm and Gorey rock my world.

Heroes:

With the exception of God, I will be my own hero from now on, thank you very much. However, I do admire the sad, poetic, artistic people who have come to visit me before...
