Ramelan

About Me

Ramelan is the epic myth set to music created by Matt Rondeau. The myth follows Ramelan, God of the Dead, and his effort to aid the hero of prophecy who will save the world from the Chaos and maintain order. The story is inspired by myths from around the world. The music itself has taken its own course and developed into a unique style. Reminiscent of rock, world gypsy music, and shamanic soundscapes, it is heartfelt and primitive, ancient and post-modern. And it's only just begun...
About the Band members:
Matt Rondeau (bass/vocals/percussion) taught himself drums and guitar before settling on the bass as his musical instrument of choice. He enjoys creating a mythological world in which his songs come to life. Matt has formed the myth of Ramelan with unusual pairings of rock, world and shamanic sounds.
Loren Leventer (violin) is a senior at the New School for jazz and contemporary music and studied previously with top violin professors at the University of Michigan. Loren plays jazz, classical, hip-hop, world, and any other genre of music. He also stays busy playing in various NYC bands.
Tony Parra (drums/percussion) was born in Manchester, New Hampshire and has been playing percussion and drum set for twelve years. He is currently attending the New School University for jazz performance. Tony has lived in NYC for the last few years where he has performed as a freelance drummer in many of the area’s clubs, theaters, and bars.
