At Pressurehead we live by a different set of rules. We choose to put sound quality and faithful reproduction of both live and recorded material above all else. We do not have share holders to please, we don’t need to follow the “popular†trends, and we choose to do what is right for the best possible sound experience possible. We are not going to specify components that are not right for you just because we have them on the shelf. We are not going to follow the “flavor of the day†trend and build you the wrong system just because that’s what everyone else is doing. We analyze your vision and your needs and quote what we believe will be the best solution to fulfill them.
Our top priority is to make sure you have the best, highest quality solution that fits your needs and budget. Your satisfaction and the solution we create for you is a direct reflection of Pressurehead and we take this fact very seriously, so seriously in fact that we have turned away business from potential customers that would not invest in what it takes to create a Pressurehead approved system.
A Pressurehead system is designed to be loud, robust, and non-fatiguing. We specify components that work together to give you as much headroom as possible. Too often companies specify components that don’t work well together. In a live sound venue, night club, or theatre these components are often pushed to their limits every night. When an audio system is constantly pushed to its absolute limits it is not only very fatiguing to the listener, it also causes premature wear on the system itself. Acoustic compression and clipping cause fatigue to the audience and destroy components causing them to sound even worse with time. A happy listener is a happy customer. They will want to stay in your venue longer, spending more money, and returning time and time again for more. A patron may not be able to put their finger on why your venue is the best, but a clean non-fatiguing audio experience is a huge contributor to their happiness and desire to be a repeat customer.
Pressurehead was founded by Erik Kinservik, an 18 year veteran in the audio community Erik has been designing speakers, installing audio systems, and performing in live bands for nearly two decades now. When Erik was only 18 years old he was winning car audio competitions for sound quality all without the use of an RTA or fancy acoustic measurement tools. While these tools are an invaluable resource for trouble shooting a system, they are often not the best way to tune a system for the human ear. Erik was also responsible for several very unique club installations in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area; for instance customizing 55 gallon aviation fuel drums into hidden subwoofers for an aviation themed night club. Acquiring an electrical engineering degree with minors in mathematics, physics, and digital signal processing Erik moved on to Motorola where he designed and specified the speakers and microphones for many of the popular Motorola phones of the time.
As Erik’s career eventually progressed into management of large engineering groups and projects he never turned his back on the audio community. Noticing the trend for companies to put sonic clarity and acoustics aside for aesthetics and trend following, Erik knew he had to form Pressurehead to put sound quality first, something most modern audio companies have long forgotten.
Erik also has a secret weapon up his sleeve: Mathew Breunig. Matt has been in the Las Vegas recording and live-sound scene for the past eight years. Having earned a reputation as the best sound engineer in Las Vegas both local and national acts seek Matt out for his prowess in the recording studio, as well as his ability to make them sound as good as possible for special live showcases. Matt has been nationally recognized by some of the biggest names in the recording industry as the best recording and live sound engineer in Las Vegas.
Erik and Matt have long been friends from back in the “Milwaukee, Wisconsin†days. Matt cut his teeth running live sound for Penetrator Sound and Lighting Inc. in Milwaukee for three years. Penetrator Sound and Lighting Inc. was contracted to do sound at all the stages and general broadcast for the expansive Wisconsin State Fair Grounds. Matt gained unprecedented exposure and experience mixing sound at not only the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds, but many other venues including both indoor, and outdoor sites. Matt’s prowess for running live sound even got him a personal invitation from Prince to mix live sound for him and his band at an after-concert party. Eventually Matt’s skills progressed to the point that the owner of the company asked him if he would consider taking over Penetrator Sound and Lighting Inc. in its entirety.
Not wanting to limit himself to live-sound mixing Matt studied Guitar Performance and Music Production and Engineering at the famed Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. As a result of Matt’s formal training at the Berkley College of Music and his experience running live sound for Penetrator Sound and Lighting Inc. Matt possesses the unique ability to translate the acoustics of recorded sound to a live sound environment. Because of his abilities both in and out of the studio Matt was asked to tour with RCA recording artists Clockwise and did an expansive tour of the United States with them. Matt brings an unprecedented knowledge of acoustics, live sound, recording, and audio equipment to the Pressurehead team.
The combined experience, skills, attitude, and tenacity of Erik, Matt, and the entire Pressurehead team ensure that your venue, weather it be your living room, nightclub, concert hall, or theatre, will sound and perform as good as it possibly can. Pressurehead is not only passionate about great sound reproduction, but also customer service. Rest assured that we will make every effort to ensure the success of our speakers and systems in your venue. You can count on it!
