BROOKLYN'S OWN!! D.ORIGINAL TEFLON

M.O.P First Family 4 Life

About Me

Teflon (p/k/a TEF) - born Linwood Starling, recognized in himself a passion for Hip-Hop at a very early age. Influenced by what the Hip Hop Community calls "Great ones" such as Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Kool G Rap, and of course RUN-DMC. His love for this artform grew into making his ownmark in the world of music. 1995 saw the culmination of this dream when he was featured on the title song of the world famous M.O.P's album "Firing Squad" establishing himself as a hordcore rapper he continued to grace us with his undeniable talent trough subsequent appearances on M.O.P.'s last 3 albums enjoying mind blowing success. With tracks such as the smash hit "4 alarm blaze" which featured Hip Hop Mogul Jay Z. This body of work gave Tef his own breathing room when Relativity Records opened its doors to allow his to make his debut solo album through M.O.P's First Family Productions and Blaze Entertainment entitled "My Will" released in 1997. This album showed Tef's talents as a solo artist that could stand on his own in which he released a single and video "Get Mine". which got MTV airplay as well as B.E.T exposure, and the strong B side " The Rawness". Alongside labelmates M.O.P., Fat Joe, The Beatnuts, and 3 Six Mafia, another piece of the puzzle was in place, Throughout the next two years, the calls kept coming in for Tef to participate on various other projects. In 1998 the multi-Platinum artists Das Efx reached out for Tef and M.O.P to record"No Doubt" and the year 2000 took it up a few notches when the street anthem "Ante up" was re-recorded for the new home of M.O.P on Loud Records. This remix featured Tef, Busta Rhymes, Remy Ma of Terror Squad, and caused new awareness of Tef's skill to burn up the microphone. Other collaborations were met in that same year on Black Moon's "Annihilation" as well as Guru of the legendary Gang Starr's solo LP entitled"O.G. Talk" in 2001. DJ Premier, known for his producktion expertise with Gang Starr, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Jay-Z, Janet Jackson, D'Angelo, and countless others, took on Teflon as a protege` to continue his dream by making him his first artist to release through his Works of Mart Productions. Due to release a first single produced by Premier, he makes his presence felt with the slammin joint entitled "Showtime". This single displays the definition of what Tef represents for the streets. Backed with a ctreative B-side to pay homage to the pioneers of the Def Jam Legacy, a freestyle known as "Tef's Def Jam" showcased the incredible history of how this label came about. While the industry has become saturated with glitz and glamour, Tef seeks to take us back while maintaining his street credibility. The album combines 80'sinfluence with Tef's own special finess to create a sound that is unmistakably his. the witty rhymes over gutter sounding backdrops that Hip-Hop fiends have come to crave and expect from the Brownsville, Brooklyn Native are second to none. Songs such as"Instigator", "What You Made of", "Goin Nuts", and "Caught Up" will prove these points, and garner Tef respect and acclamation once the album drops. Tef states, "In this Hip-Hop thing we do I've been putting in work for years. I have ttraveled with my road dogs Billy Danze and Lil' Fame, and as a solo artist, fans will get to see me on a much bigger level. I am fortunate to have a wealth of material to draw from. If you love Hip-Hop, you're gonna love Tef. with that beign known, you should aslo know that his flare for writing has expanded him into the world of penning hits for artists such as the legendary Adult Film star Heather Hunter. Her new single "Freak Like Me" has Tef's versatility written all over it. He recently created "Private Partnerz Publishing" to allow all wannabe stars to line up for the best words to be put to music. A force to be reckoned with, how can you lose? Teflon is the total package..
