The Autumn Sessions(Has A Show On June 30th)

The Autumn Sessions is an acoustic duo from Pageland, South Carolina. They have molded themselves together through a very unique acoustic blend. After trying all types of full band configurations, Jonathan Rollings and Nathan Hollifield sat down in March of 2004, put some songs together and The Autumn Sessions sound was born. Jonathan and Nathan’s very different personalities tend to breach the boundaries of what people expect in purely acoustical music. Their songs are written to put a twist on all laws of mainstream music while maintaining musical flow and good song structure. This makes it almost impossible to classify them into one defined musical genre. The Autumn Sessions set out to write stories not hit songs, this method may seem risky to most, but the response they have received from listeners and peers has proven there can be room in today’s music for songs with purity and heart. Their unwavering devotion to keep their music solely acoustic is what makes them leaders of an acoustic revolution years ahead of its time. Welcome to their world!
Jonathan Rollings (vocalist) has one of the most unique vocal styles heard in years. From his dynamic soft phrasings to a powerful range used in perfect timing, you’ll never have to guess who you are listening to. He feels his voice is nothing without the emotional lyrics. In most cases, the characters you’ll meet in some of his stories are completely fictional; he brings these situations to life with a conviction and urgency that makes them all seem real. He also possesses an imagination that spawns characters with back-stories, tales of love, heartbreaks, secret lives, and everything else that we humans experience. But more importantly, he creates situations that are a bit off balance like the final thoughts of a doomed astronaut, a love affair between a human and a robot, a fictionalization of the week prior to the exposure of the famed swing dance "The Lindy Hop", and even the infamous Andrea Gail.
Nathan Hollifield (guitarist) plays straight from his heart. The self-taught, play by ear musician has been defined as an acoustic renegade. Ignoring the styles laid down by acoustic predecessors, he treads a path of his own while letting his heart lead his fingers. His tunings, chord structures and rhythmic patterns speak volumes about the man and go without comparison. The theme, dynamics and inspiration lays the foundation catapulting you through the story. It is safe to say that he has only scratched the surface of where his talent can move to. With each day, he strives to push himself further developing his own unique brand of acoustic music. Nathan, though very shy, loves to play in front of people and hear their reactions to songs that were put together in a small room in Pageland, South Carolina.
The Autumn Sessions have independently released their first EP entitled "this is not your exit...just an artist’s rendering of what your exit might look like" in early September 2005. Their desires for the future are very clear; continue developing their unique song writing skills, tour anywhere and everywhere and eventually be able to do this full time with the support of a record label.
