Having grown up around records in the late 80’s, it was inevitable Michael Mul'e known to many as 'Finatik' would take up the art of Djing. After seeing the legendary Beastie Boy's DJ Mix Master Mike in the flesh, Finatik bought his first DJ set, after working hard over the school holidays at his parents café.
It wasn’t long before the dedicated turntablist had mastered the craft and began entering battles at the early age of 14 and took 3rd place in the Western Australian heats of the DMC Battles. Although, not convinced, a year later, Finatik took out the 1st place position in the WA heats, and 4th place in the National finals proving the teen was a non stop force behind the decks and an up and coming talent in the world’s of hip hop and DJing.
A year later his talent was noticed, with Finatik landing a sponsorship deal with Ecko Clothing and aligning forces with the Turntable Jediz, which has led to exposure both interstate and overseas. All this, at the age of 15.
With constant hard work and dedication, Finatik started hosting his own hip-hop radio show “Underground Airplay†with his cousin DJ Blade, before becoming of age. A show that lead to his current partnership with founder and C.E.O of Stadium Music, “Tracâ€.
By the time Finatik had reached 18, he had accomplished what most high school students could only have dreamed of, and met some of the biggest names in hip hop, constantly being requested to play support for such touring acts as Method Man & Redman, The Black Eyed Peas, DJ Premier, Afrika Bambaata, Jazzy Jay, The Pharcyde, Jurassic 5, Roc Raida, DJ Craze, Q-Bert, and the man that started it all for him, Mix Master Mike.
During this time, Finatik was not satisfied with just supporting acts and running a radio show, he decided he wanted to be more involved in creating and developing the beats that he so commonly plays on the decks, during a number of his residencies. (including Metropolis Fremantle, Metro City, Ruby Room and Harbourside).
With such an impressive resume to back him up (and all at the age of just 20), it is only a matter of time before Finatik continues to pave the way for a massive and successful career.
