Sammy Valencia is the thunder and energy behind Sydney rock band Blackwater. Huge sound - and kicking back with some fat, 'meat and potato's' drum beats._____________________________________________________S
ammy started plying drums in 1995 at the age of 12. In 1996, LIKE I CARED- his first band, was started and went on to win the school talent quest playing a cover of the Guns n Roses version of Knocking on Heavens Door.
Years 1997- 2002 saw sammy play in a huge varitey of music. Winning Gold with the Westlake Symphony Orchestra, 2 silvers with Westlake Big Band, 1 silver, 1 bronze with the Westlake Concert band at the Secondary School Oschestra and Big Band Festival, and taking part in Westlake Jazz Band.
Lets not forget stage shows now, with Sammy using his skills in performances like Jesus Christ Superstar, Pirates of Penzance, and A Slick Of Saturday Night._____________________________________________________I
n 2000, Sammy was asked to join local band OutaNowhere. The band was a solid mix of Funk / Jazz / Rock mixed with influnces like Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against the Machine. The band played many gigs, recorded and EP but sadly dismembered in 2002/03, but not before a series of mini tours around the country, infecting many bars and pubs with their unique sounds and judging many a bikini / wet t-shirt contest!!___________________________________________________
__The following year was the year sammy moved to Australia to take on bigger and better things.
Prowler was Sammy's first band, but the band decided to go their seprate ways in April '06.
Now, on the Sydney streets with Blackwater, things are taking shape. Sammy's mission of bringing rock n roll back to the world is underway... so look out for a gig near you soon, and come check out some earth shattering sounds from Sammy Valencia and BLACKWATER
