My name is Stephanie and I come from a small town right here in California. My whole life I could think of nothing but entertaining others, which in turn gave me all the attention most little girls love.I began performing on stage at the age of three when my mother enrolled me in dance classes. I continued to do dance for 13yrs. and studied tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and of course freestyle. I loved dance, but I knew I didn't want to stop there. I knew there was more of my personality I wanted to share, so after highschool graduation, I moved out of mom's house and went to LA.College was always on the brain as well and I knew I couldn't just go right up to Hollywood and say..."here I am"! I needed to get some knowledge and experience before conquering Hollywood...lol. I began going to college and did a number of plays including musicals such as "Kiss Me Kate" and "West Side Story". I received an Irene Ryan Certificate for my performance in "Aloha, Say The Pretty Girls". Receiving this award gave me the opportunity to attend the KCACTF (Kennedy Center Acting College Theatre Festival). It was a great honor and quite the experience. Even though I did not win, I still learned a great deal and grew tremendously in my acting skills because of it.Well, college ended and I knew there was still more work to be done. I became a background extra for t.v. sitcoms and became a regular on a few of them. I know background is not glamorous, but I wasn't looking for glamour. I was looking for education and experience. Now that I was on sets, I could see how things were done. I watched intently as the camera people set up and how the lighting people adjusted the lights to give different moods to each room or scene. I also talked with them and be-friended them to learn more. I reminded myself that these people creating this magic, are infact just people too and that what harm could I do if I talked to them as long as they weren't busy with work. However, I always remained respectful and remembered my place. I was having the time of my life, but I knew I didn't want to do background work forever.Then I got my SAG card.Getting my SAG card was one of the most fufilling experiences of my life. I was official with Hollywood.The next summer, I audtitioned for an independent film and landed a part. It was a small part, but it was a part and one more thing to put on my resume. We filmed it that summer and it went to the Cannes Film Festival in France. I attended the festival and it was amazing. I had never been to France, so it was especially exciting. When I told my mom, she could hardly believe it. I was doing it!After the Cannes Film Festival, the movie went on to be theatrically released in Regal Cinema Theatres in eleven states. I was flown out to about 4 of the states to promote the film, seeing as it is independent and we didn't have a huge budget. People were asking for my autograph and a flutter of joy came over me.
