Progress Personified

About Me

Music has been an integral part of Milton’s life from an early age. He grew up listening to an eclectic blend of music including jazz, R&B and rock. While in elementary and middle school, he played various instruments including the bass, the alto saxophone, and the drums. From these experiences Milton developed a love for, and discovered an intuition for, music that has aided in his growth and development as a musician. In 2001 at the age of 19, Milton returned to Chicago -- the city of his birth and early childhood -- to study with his godfather, renowned jazz pianist Willie Pickens. He enrolled at Columbia College Chicago where his passion for performance and arranging became evident. In May 2006, Milton graduated from Columbia College Chicago, where he was an active performer in the jazz piano and vocal arenas. Currently Milton is devoting every bit of his time to improving as a pianist, a vocalist, and a composer/arranger while pursing a Master’s Degree at Depaul University where his is the vocalist for their jazz ensemble, the first in over 20 years.
