I was born in Croatia, still during the time of former Yugoslavia. In a very beautiful old city Karlovac (pic above). City of four rivers and city of parks. Karlovac has most delicious beer too,like most of Europe does.
In Karlovac, Cro, I took dance for couple of years and was singing for a local choir for four years. We've preformed a lot around the city,we were even on TV. I had a very fun childhood but it sort of was cut short.....
When I was 12 years old I have lived through a war that happened in Croatia. My parents, my Bro and my gramma packed just few things in one suitcases and left everything behind. We only thought it would last for 3 months and we would be back home soon. No, we never came back. We moved to Munich, Germany. Lived there for 5 years. After Germany my family moved to Canada. That was about 11 years ago.Yeah we decided very bravely to continue our Journey to the other side of the world. Sold everything, packed two suitcases each and left. Just like that. Its funny how "things" have no importance in situations like that. Its so easy to leave them behind. And with that you learn that only moments and memories become a part of you forever. And what matters most is your family and friends. I actually lived through two wars, the second one was the Nato bombing in Serbia, when visiting my moms side of family, back in 1999.
I don't have any negative feelings anymore, no anger, or such living through two wars. I mean if I could trade my life for someone elses I wouldn't do that. I am thankful for the experience and value the person it has made me, like all the other experiences in my life. And all the pain and blame has left me. I am at peace about it now.
A lot of people don't realize what war really is. A lot go to fight in war that has nothing to do with them. Pretty much as a slave for their country. Its NOT what you see on tv or movies, or what propaganda brainwashes us to think it is. It really is the most horrific thing any human can experience. Especially feeling death waiting for you as bombs are falling all around you, But the most disgusting thing is that the person killing, is just like you, a human. Why is your life less worth it????? Its just not right. There is NO excuse for war and killing. But, its sad, it happens anyways.
I miss Europe a lot. I LOVE Europe. I have lots of family there. I Like Canada a lot, but when you are a part of something else you can't become somebody else, no matter how hard you try. Lately I have been visiting Europe a lot. To a beautiful city Leskovac, Serbia, that is part of my childhood as well, because I have visited my moms family at least once a year ever since I was born.
Looking back at my life and all the places I have lived, they feel like 3 different lives. I never even had a chance to say good bye to my friends in Croatia. I wonder how everyone is and wish them all the best, wherever they might be. Yeah I was still a kid when I left but remember everything and the whole political situation, all the change that happened before the war. Germany was wonderful. I have made wonderful memories there too, growing up as a teenager. Went to College. It was sad to say bye to everyone there. A lot of my friends also moved back home, cause a lot of them were also refugees from the war and we have lost contact. I wish them all the best wherever they might be now. I hope our paths will cross again some day.
Still I feel there is so much I want to see, and learn. And I'm so excited for it!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see all the wonderful places out there and make tons of wonderful memories!!!!!....
I speak Croatian, Serbian, German, English as you can tell, lol and learning a bit of Spanish at the moment. I also understand Bulgarian.
I am a singer and a songwriter. Love to sing! My passion above all. :) I have been in couple of bands and look forward to continue my Journey with music very soon. I just have been living in one place 5 months at a time. So I need to settle somewhere for a while for that to happen. So excited about it. :)
I write poetry. Have few poems published. In the past I have been writing poetry for an A&B sound paper. I write melodies and lyrics and play guitar.
One of my other interests is acting, probably all falls into performance. In the past I have done some childrens theatre. Loved it. Would like to continue in the future. I am also into Yoga, Pilates and enjoy meditation. I love to read.
I love to travel! Love to surf and snowboard!
