About Me

Aren't these "about me" boxes the worst to write? I am me. People are so complex or are they? Maybe we are simple too. I guess deep down we all want the same things. For me that means someone to love and be loved by. Honestly, that comment doesn't come easily. I have shut out people and life for far too long. I have now reached a point in my life where I want to break that self-destructive pattern. I want to live life to the full and suck all the marrow out of it much like a younger "Cali Laura" would have. I want to focus on the positives and grow and learn and explore. As a human I know I may fall and fail again but I no longer want to live in fear of "mistakes". That fear cripples and gets you nowhere. I want to look back on my life and say even if I messed up - at least I tried! (2/08) (If you scroll through this next bit there are many good thoughts I like...)
..

I am a good, loving, forgiving, creative, loyal, strong, capable, inspiring, yes - even pretty, somewhat sexy, shy, organized, hard-working, smart, dreamer, intense at times, silly, moral, responsible, honest, open, romantic, dedicated, friend, leaning post, social bug, little girl, sensitive, tender, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, "good girl", adoring, talkative, giver, christian, 80's era lover, Depeche Mode fan, new-bee trance lover, former flag girl but still WGI lover, California wannabee, Titanic history enthusiast, Ewan fanatic, traveler at heart (if not yet in reality - told you dreamer), sims house designer/decorator, architecturally interested, artistically talented, poetic, optimistic, hopeful, grateful, blessed, sinner, angel, confidant, unique, thoughtful, articulate, eager, awake, alert, alive and so much more... Take me or leave me, that is 100% your choice. I hope to grow and learn and love with willing people. Hello world!!!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." - Marianne Williamson

My Interests

Growing in my relationship with God, travel, new experiences, getting soaked in the rain, breathing through lifes pain, laughing with friends and family, crying with those that hurt, giving goodness to those whom I love/care about, looking people in the eye, being more intense and outgoing, learning from others, dreaming big, overcoming obstacles, moving onward and upward, trying new things (I now LOVE Thai and India food!). . . Obsessing over the awesome, immensely talented Ewan Mcgregor - it's just too much fun! Creating art, writing, crafts, and poetry. Movies, reading, crocheting, scrapbooking, dancing to "good" music, going to plays or live shows, The Sims (I love to design and decorate houses), studying more about my favorite piece of history, the Titanic.

Music:

Though I have this music player I cannot always find the songs I want to put on it and they are in absolutely no particular order (life is too short & besides it plays randomly) obviously my newest additions are at the bottom ;) I like a wide variety of music. I guess I typically don't really get too attached to particular bands/artists, but more so to individual songs (lyrics matter and so if you pay attention to them it often is insightful).

Christian Electronic Trance Sounding Worship!!!!!THIS TIME - FROM AUGUST RUSHORDINARY WORLD - AURORAI DON'T WANNA BE IN LOVE - GOOD CHARLOTTENEVER - TINA ARENASHAKE THE DISEASE - DEPECHE MODE(MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE DM SONG)MISREAD - KINGS OF CONVENIENCETIME RUNS WILD - FROM DREAM A LITTLE DREAM4 IN THE MORNING - GWEN STEFANIPLEASE DON'T STOP THE MUSIC (TRANCE-LIKE VERSION)- RIHANNA

Movies:

Okay, I decided to give a list. I am a big movie fan although I actually don't watch much these days. My list will not be all inclusive but anyway here goes: Anne of Green Gables/Avonlea, August Rush,Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Born Yesterday, The Cutting Edge, Dead Poet's Society, Dream a Little Dream,Father of the Bride2, Finding Neverland, Goonies, HeavyWeights, Holy Man, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Mannequin, Miss Potter, Morgan Stewarts Coming Home, Moulin Rouge, The Notebook, Notting Hill, Only You, The Phantom of the Opera, The Princess Bride, Romeo and Juliet, Sabrina, The Secret of My Success, Sense and Sensibility, Sneakers, Some Kind of Wonderful, Star Wars Films, Strictly Ballroom, Titanic, Thouroughly Modern Millie, A Walk in the Clouds, Who's That Girl. Aside from those, a few kids films that I actually don't tire of (yet) are The Emperors New Groove and The Incredibles. My NEW favorite kid flick is Wallace and Gromit!! SOOOO Cute!

Television:

No Cable for a few years now (yes- you can survive without it!)so I rarely watch television. Regardless, my favorite channels are TLC and the Style channel. I also love Extreme Makeover: Home addition, it is guaranteed to make me cry! Recently, my daughter and I have been watching the Little House On the Prairie DVD Series. I never knew Laura Ingalls was so cool, LOL! I used to get teased when I was a kid about her and hated it because I thought she was some stupid prairie girl but now I wish I was more like her - she is bold and daring! When I was younger a few of my faves were Kid's Incorporated, Roundhouse, I love Lucy, Gilligan's Island, and The Monkee's.

Books:

"That's right. When I was your age, television was called books."
Historical books on the Titanic, books about art, architecture, interior design or poetry, some romance, cozy mysteries, Christian fiction and of course The Bible. Comic books are always fun too! I love Calvin and Hobbes best! Trying to read some classics that I never did. I have a major list of "want to reads" but finding the time can prove challenging. ;) Best new books I've read recently; "For Women Only", "He's Just not that Into You", "Between Heaven and Ground Zero", "Public School Public Menace", "House Calls and Hitching Posts" it is an interesting non-fiction book about a country doctor who cares for the Amish. It makes me want to know more stories about my Great Grandfather who also was an old country doctor. I may have to research that although I am not sure how one goes about finding that type of information.

Heroes:

"I need a hero. I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night. He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast and he's gotta be fresh from the fight. I need a hero. I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light. He's gotta be sure and it's gotta be soon and he's gotta be larger than life." -Bonnie Tyler
