Beneath the trees and above the dust, there lay winged sounds that specially trained acoustical lepidopterists tease out and catch on electric six strings. These scientists investigate the sonic lives of sounds without any linguistic vessels, and attempt to translate them using tonal structures that can be reproduced at live shows. Though these sounds have teased musical minds as divergent as Shostakovich and the Jesus Lizard, the Slow Club attempts to give these sounds reproducible shapes by combining different genres of film music with new and strange melodic progressions. The apparatus employed by the Slow Club to convey its interpretation of these sounds consists of three parts: two six strings and a drum kit.
Though some of our musical influences are more ingrained in the popular imagination, such as David Lynch and Ennio Morricone, others are lesser known, such as the scores written for the films of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci by the band Goblin. We the Slow Club believe that a dead body lay at the center of every artist's vision; whether that dead body has the significance of a genre or of a specific artist is of very little importance… what remains essential is that our dead body wears a cowboy hat.
