About Me

Hi, I'm Jason, and this is my music page. I have a few differant compositional interests, and they are not all contained here in these tracks, but I feel this is a pretty good statement of what I'm up to now. The recordings presented here were made in a basement, a very on-the-spot manner, or both. ----------------------------------------- After two years elsewhere, I settled at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA, majoring in Contemporary Improvisation. It's a very humbling experience, and my teachers & peers there have become some of my greatest influences. I hope to someday teach music, and to (sucessfully) compose and perform works that blend many genres.TRACK DETAILS "James Joyce & Frank McCourt" is an improvisation using text from the two authors ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------- "Emily" is an improvised setting of "We grow accustomed to the dark" by Emily Dickinson. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------- "North End Lights" was written during my first semester at NEC in 2007. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------- The "Trio" was improvised with Trever Williams & Derek Beckvold at my 2008 Spring Ahead recital. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------- "Ben Davis" is named after an innovative musician who I met at NEC. It's something I can imagine Ben playing & moving to. This was also my first experement with a loop pedal. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------- "Watercolor Pictures" is an older piece that I wrote 2 years ago. It's part of a small suite called "Pieces Of Clouds." ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------- I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
