Moses Eder (19), began his music making with classical piano lessons which lasted 6 years. After getting frustrated with the instrument, he bought a drumset and has been playing it ever since, for about 7 years. Currently, he is exploring jazz styles, open imrpovisation, found sound and the creative possibilities of collaborating with poets, dancers and visual artists. Previous musical experiences also include west african drumming and dance, Indonesian gamelan, Balinese kechack, jawharp, djembe, classical percussion, composition and other world percussion experience.
In Los Angeles, his hometown, he attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and now is a Bachelor of Music student at the New England Conservatory for Music in Boston in their Jazz Performance program. He studies privately with Bob Moses and Billy Hart and has previously had private instruction from Blake Colie, Bill Wysaske and Joe LaBarbera as well as meetings with Steve Barnes, Ari Hoenig and Peter Erskine. Now, he is beginning to get some groups together to continue to bring music out into the public with his comrades of the NEC jazz department.
