About Me
DCene is a unique group in Washington, DC that manages local bands and organizes concerts with regional and touring bands. Local music is too often overlooked because of a bands inability to properly get its name out by booking and promoting shows, and maintaining an organized fan base. Thats where DCene comes in. What DCene offers a band is full managementbooking of all shows, communication with the media and press about upcoming events and reviews, gathering and maintenance of fan base mailing list, and additional management and promotional needs. An ongoing partnership with Wes Schauble, allows DCene to provide cutting edge and trendy graphic design for flyers, websites and other print and online media. In addition to band management and concert planning, DCene has held a 32-team beer pong tournament the past two years featuring cash prizes, play-by-play announcers, and all the glamour of a real NCAA tournament.DCene originated in April of 2004 when founder Adam Berg Rosenberg began renting out bars around DC to throw parties for his friends, for no reason other than to organize networking parties. These parties brought in a wide variety of guests from hill staffers and lobbyists, to graduate and art students, all of whom wanted to network and relax in a private atmosphere while meeting new people and sharing good times with friends. Berg decided to expand upon this.At a street team promotional meeting for a touring band, Wes Schauble was brought into the picture. Wes and Berg instantly clicked. Beyond sharing the same taste in music, they both held a similar vision of creating opportunities to bring friends together, meet new ones, and build a new type of DC community. Wes single-handedly changed the way DCene operated. Gone were the days of e-vites and animated GIF files, and a new era was ushered in of websites, emails and printed graphic and marketing materials. Without much hesitation, the two combined their forces to strengthen the potential of DCeneboth how it could reach people, and what it could do.The result was a re-branded DCene with a new focus to incorporate local bands into the mix. What better way to reach the most amounts of people than by bringing them together for music? In 2006, Berg and Wes met Anna Gordon who was in college at University of Miami-Florida. Immediately after she graduated with a degree in marketing and a love of live music, DCene recruited Anna to take over media relations and promotion.DCene reached new heights during the summer of 2006 as the group produced a summer concert series spanning 12 shows, 2 venues and 15 bands. Regional bands signed on to play DCenes legendary Hilton Rooftop series and the group gained increased credibility when Jimmies Chicken Shack (the band behind such hits as High and Do Right during the late 90s) agreed to play a DCene sponsored show.DCene is always looking for new bands to work with, whether its just an occasional booking, a passing through touring band, or a long-term relationship.
