About Me

Black Friday is long dead?(Bio circa 1994)Formed in 1991 in Cape May, NJ out of boredom and punk negativity into sarcastic creativity. Black Friday is society's bastard child. Their songs reflect a lovesick generation, hopeless in their own right, and Kutepow's lyrics are unhappy at that. Black Friday is the only punk thing to come out of the bowels of New Jersey. If they get flushed it's because Punk is deadDemos - Suicide Pact (1991), Poor White Trash (1992), Black Friday Is Dead (1993), Fat People Don't Have Any Feelings? (1994), Fuck Black Friday (1996), The Games We Play (1996), Leftovers (1996), Trigger Happy (1997) Easy Way Out (1999)New Bio from KutepowBlack Friday was the name of the band. It could be referred to it as a mere rock n’ roll band with the all the connotations of something that general embodied. In all actuality, Black Friday evolved, it didn’t revolt. It morphed from angst to something somewhat approachable. Then it died. Just like rock n’ roll. It is a genre for the mainstream but has a history as controversial as the f. word. That is why Black Friday personifies the essence of what rock n’ roll is and what rock n’ roll does. Everything that rock n’ roll represents to the counter culture of conservativism was the image of Black Friday. And to exhaust the cliché “sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll” that was Black Friday’s genesis and museBut Black Friday at times was a bit more sinister, more manic, and unrelenting especially during live experiences. The personalities of all the members throughout their tenure provided an exhaustive appeal toward any interpretation. The lives and the relationships of everyone involved with Black Friday at some point were either frayed or strengthened, but nobody was ever unaffected. That is perhaps the root of their concession. That plus a number of other factors both positive and negative such as geographical relocations and drug abuse contributed to their eventual dissolutionFinally, specifically, about the name Black Friday, it was concocted one day during a brainstorming exploration through a high school American History textbook’s index. That name and couple of other historically ambivalent terms were considered. But Black Friday captured the tone and mood of the music. The year was 1992 and it was uncertain if the name was officially taken already. The prefix Ghouls was added to avoid any possible future infringements. And through out the years to follow other choice superlatives were added to the band’s nameOh, don't write to the PO Box on any of the flyers, we haven't had it in 10 years!
